questions on hooking 55" LCD TV to computer

I have a 4850 hooked up to my 52" LG - works great. I use 1366x768 in Windows because 1920x1080 makes everything way too small. XBMC is set up to automatically switch to 1920x1080 when viewing HD movies.

Microsoft security essentials destroys windows 7

Another with no MS Security Essentials problems. I have installed it on a dozen or so machines with no issues to speak of.

windows 7 service pack 1 has gone RTM

Adding AVX should not be considered "adding support for Sandy Bridge". AMD's forthcoming Bulldozer based chips also support AVX extensions so both Intel and AMD processors will benefit.

$200 amd hd5870 expires 1/5/11

really true k10 breaks 30k 3dmark 06 with crossfire?

Wow, sounds like history repeating itself.... All the fanboys claiming "B.S." on the insane benchmark numbers just prior to the C2D release. I think we need to keep count of the accuracy of some websites. Lets start keeping count of how many Inquirer stories are true or not. ;)

Yeah, I was wondering why I could not find any of their board over at NewEgg... Wanted to pick up the AD580XR for my new build. Went with MSI instead, who along with Epox, are my favorite motherboard companies.

Exactly what I am doing :) I wanted 4gb Ram (running xp64) and a faster processor. With DDR2 so cheap and almost no X2-939s, it is not worth sticking with 939.

Underclocking a Pentium M

You need to play around with your settings in Windows as the Pentium M is able to dynamically slow down the processor speed to save power. I have a few-year old IBM Thinkpad T23 with a Pentium 3 Mobile 1.13 and it clocks down to about 733mhz when on Battery power.

I would check out the latest beta version of ATITool - http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=26246 Allows you to Overclock, modify fan speeds, etc, pretty nice tool. Here are the profiles I have set up: Low Speed: 300/500, fan usually runs at ~ 30%. Use this for general every day...

I was in the same position this week. Ended up picking up a Sapphire 1950Pro 512MB for $189 after rebate from NewEgg. Sitting on my desk right now waiting to be installed. It will be replacing my tried and true x800GTO2 @ x850XT.
