    Retail Heatsink for x2

I bought a Thermaltake Typhoon to replace the stock HSF on my 4800+ before I even received it. Then I purchased an Si-120 just in case the Typhoon was a PITA. I have always replaced the noisy stock HSF in the past on my CPU. Both the Typhoon and the Si-120 are still sitting in their boxes and...

    Gigabyte 3D Aurora Aluminum Case

Anyone know where you can actually buy one? Can't find anywhere online.

Which case to choose for new system?

The TT Tsunami doesn't have a plastic exterior. You must be talking about the Soprano. The Tsunami has a brushed aluminum door and painted aluminum body. Same interior as the Soprano though. That said, if you can afford it, go Lian Li.

    Better Case?

I'd say the Tsunami because it is a larger aluminim case, so it'll have more space to dissipate heat. The stock fans on the Tsunami are rated around 53ish CFM. I'm not certain. I found them to blow a lot of air, but were too noisy for my taste.

    Quiet case fan?

Coolermaster does have a couple of "quiet" and "really quiet" lines of 120mm fans. I've played with both. The 13-14db fans are absolutely whisper quiet, but they barely push any air whatsoever. If you just mount the fan and then do not plug in the power connector, you will get the cooling power...

    Child-resistent case

I went with a Thermaltake Tsunami to keep my 3y/o out and it has worked well. Plus, I thought it a step up from the crappy plastic Antec doors.

Couple of questions on the Thermaltake Tsunami

    1. Roomy is relative: it will fit a 6800gt and four HDD snugly. Doubt a longer vid card would fit with that many HDDs. 2. The is room behind the 5.25 drive bays for cable storage as well as behind and below the HDD drive bays. You can route and creatively store a few cables under the mobo...

    Need how-to on thermalpad removal

You can also use a polish remover/acetone type product. Works great. Better than alcohol I've found.

    Compressed air for cleaning

The only thing to be careful of with using compressed air is blowing it directly on fans. I ruined an NV5 silencer by blowing the dust off the fan. I've heard of others destroying case fans that way as well. Basically, they aren't designed to spin beyond a certain speed. If you do want to...

Looking for a good quality, cheap case

Look at the Compucase LX-6A19. Available from Directron for $40 (price just went up from $36). Antec clone but without the fugly plastic door. It is dead silent.

    Thermaltake Tunderblade Fan (120mm)

It might be 78cfm, but the noise is annoyingly loud. Probably high 20s.

Any case other than Sonata with locking front door?

I bought a Thermaltake Tsunami for exactly that reason (little fingers). A couple of their cases have locks on the door.

    SilenX Fans

I bought the SilenX fans after trying several different quiet fan makes and models. I am very happy with them, as they do two things very well: 1. Silence - I cannot hear the 2x120mm and 1x92mm fans while sitting two feet from them 2. Cooling - My case temps have remained constant (28 degrees)...

Antec Super Lanboy or TT Tsunami ?

I looked at the LanBoy but went with the Tsunami. The Tsunami cools well but I found the stock fans too loud for my ears. I believe they are rated around 53 cfm but well above the 21bd claim. I replaced them with SilenX and they are awesomely quiet and my case temps haven't changed. Don't...

Been using my TT Tsunami for a week...

I started replacing the fans in my Tsunami with quieter ones. The front fan is the noisiest because of its proximity so if you replace just one, do that one, next would be the side 92mm fan. After trying several different brands, I put in 14db 120mm and 92mm SilenX fans. They are expensive, but...

    ThermalTake Soprano

It is so much like the Tsunami, but a step down. Only has one LED light on the door. That looks unbalanced. No removable HDD rack. Looks like they kept the Tsunami's worst feature - the "21db" fans. Not sure I understand the point.

    120mm Case Fans

I was in your shoes. Hated the loud fans in my Tsunami. I replaced them with SilenX 120mm LED fans. the silence is sweet and my case has the same temp as before (26 C), so airflow is good. Somehow I don't see SilenX as a shady company. Their fans put out and stay silent. I tried the...

    Ultra X-connect

I have both a Neopower and an UltraX. I have a better "warm and fuzzy" from my Neopower but I haven't had any problems with my UltraX, and it has been stable running a 6800gt, 2xHDD, Audigy2, 2gb RAM, 2xDVD and some other stuff. My overall impression is that it has some quality control issues in...

Lian Li PC-65 or Thermaltake Tsunami

The Tsunami for $80 is a sweet deal. 120mm fans = great cooling. I can't imagine buying a new case these days with 80mm fans. Baseless Thermaltake bashing is currently in vogue and Lian Li does have a great reputation, but they won't send you a thank you note or a check if you buy their...

    RAID 1 control?

With the A8V you enter the RAID utility during the POST to setup the RAID configuration. When I would go thru the process of telling it to setup RAID 1 it would then search for the second drive for a while and then exit out to Windows. Windows then copied every file over to second drive, but...

    RAID 1 control?

I have my A8V setup in RAID 1 thru the VIA connectors with 2x Seagate Barracuda 200 gig HDD. The VIA controller was recommended to me by a Monarch Computer tech support person because more mobo resources are consumed by the Promise controller. It took me several attempts to get controller...

look at the new SilenX LED fans. quiet, keep my case temps down, but EXPENSIVE.

    Quiet 120mm fan?

Try the SilenX 120mm fans rated at 58cfm at 14db. They also just introduced an LED version (available at 3DCOOL) that are just as silent and good. They are expensive though. Fan ratings are pretty arbitrary, so I'll just say that I can't hear them and my case temps haven't gone up after...

Those with Tsunami cases - What length device cables do I need?

I have a Tsunami with an Asus A8V board. I like to mount the drives and then connect the cabling. You will need: floppy: 10" is good IDE: 12" (if you use the top 5" bay this will be a tight fit) SATA: 10" If you use longer cables you can fold and tie the excess to the inside of the 5" bay...

Are there any quiet LED fans?

I tried a CM 120mm LED fan and found it to be very quiet and the LED lights were a very clear pretty blue, but it could barely push any air at all. It sucked for venting my case. I finally gave up on LED and went SilenX for silent performance.

    looking for a quiet case

I have the Thermaltake Tsunami SWA case and run it with the Antec Neopower. The Neopower is very quiet, rock solid and has a PCI Express connector. It also comes with an adapter for AGP mobos. I am happy with the Tsunami case. The case cools well, and the side 92mm fan helps greatly. The...

    Problems With ThermalTake TSUNAMI?

WoW! tempers...it's just a computer components. I have a Tsunami case and it is an improved wavemaster (better cooling). Frankly, one of the best values for your money if you are looking for a non-cheesy, stylized aluminum case with 120mm fans, that cools well and has a door that locks (keep...
