Some people are running these memory modules without a hitch at 2-3-3-6 timings. I'm getting a Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT set myself to go with my X2 4400+ setup.
I intend to overclock the CPU by about 220MHz over the stock 2200MHz speed (220x11 = 2420MHz). But I want to preserve 1:1 ratio on...
I recommend http://www.sidewindercomputers.com . Great service and communication. Last time I checked, they had quite a few Panaflo fan models in stock.
And I'd pick an FX-57 over an FX-55 any day. But can I pay for it on just "any day"? I don't think so. But I most definitely can buy a 3000+ venice any day... heck, I can get a whole system centred around a venice 3000+ CPU for the price of a single FX-55 processor.
It looks like ZipZoomFly has all 4 retail versions of AMD A64 X2 processors in stock.

4200+ - $575.00
4400+ - $639.00
4600+ - $811.90
4800+ - $1050.00
Not true at all. Age of Empires 3 will make use of dual-core CPUs and will be benefited from them. And AOE3 is supposed to be released on the 1st of October, this year. Will P4s be extinct by then? I don't think so. And if I remember correctly, a game based on the Unreal Engine 3 is supposed to...
andlcs, the ASUS motherboard/socket-479-adapter you mention does not support EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep). That's one of the things that made me turn away from that setup when I was considering a Pentium-M desktop rig. Perhaps you should take a look at the more expensive AOpen 915GM board...
Are you implying that Vegitto is a troll as well? If so, I cannot agree with you on that based on what you quoted. Because my 3.0EGHz prescott got over 70C on load with the stock cooler (right now, it's really cool because my mobo has gone for a replacement ;)). Vegitto did exaggerate there a...
I don't know about intel compiler, I have zero experience with it. But if you were to use gcc, you ought to check out the man page for 'make'. It will tell you of '-j' option. It lets you specify the number of jobs that gcc runs simultaneously. If you have 2 physical processors (or a dual core...
TankGuys,
Thanks for the quick response. I just mailed my cousin and asked him to place an order for an X2 4400+ at your store. Since, as I have gathered from your previous posts, it is not your policy to charge credit cards before you are sure that you can ship out the requested product, I...
Newegg's out of stock (X2 4400+) now. :-
TankGuys, I live in India, but I have a cousin the the US (San Diego, CA) right now who'll be coming back to India by the end of July. He's bringing a few pieces of computer hardware for me along with him when he comes back. If my cousin places an...
The X2 copper heatsink looks a bit different from the FX-55 heatsink.
You can find pictures of the FX-55 heatsink in this GamePC article.
The sides of the FX-55 heatsink don't seem to be made out of copper, where as the X2 heatsink seem to have their sides made out of copper.
Thanks for the quick reply, mauri. I'm planning on getting a Freezer64 myself for my planned 4400+ X2 setup. Your results with the AC Freezer64 look great.
I used AS5 with an Intel P4 (3.0EGHz) myself (with the stock cooler), and the CPU temps didn't change one bit; they were just the same as...
Please allow me to bother you with a few questions. :P
What CPU do you have? What kind of temperature readings are you getting with the AC Freezer64 (when your CPU's idling and when it's on load)? What's your case temperature?
:)
Newegg.com says X2s are 'coming June 15th'.

That images links to the following page:

...but that page doesn't say much about when...
Does anybody have an idea about when the fanless version of this mobo is coming out?
Currently newegg.com has ABIT AN8 NF4 SLI mobo, which also comes with a passive NB cooling solution. The board looks great, but I'm afraid it won't play well with my XP-120 CPU cooler.

Connect3d ATI X850 XT Platinum Edition is being sold on Monarchcomputer.com for $485. Offer stands till July 2nd and is applies to the first 100 purchases only.
They also have the same kind of offer on PNY Quadro FX 1400 128MB PCI-E... $100 off, and offer stands till the 2nd of July (applies...
They have pictures over there. If that is how the final version of the card looks, then the card's probably going to be compatible with Zalman VF700cu and Arctic-Cooling NV5 silencer GPU coolers. That'd be nice.
Look what I just found - single sided 512MB DDR400 modules from Crucial! for $46.55 @ newegg.com (another single sided Crucial 512MB DDR400 module here - though slightly more expensive: $59 @ newegg.com).
It doesn't say anywhere in the newegg links that these are single sided modules. But one...
Thanks for the help folks. I'll stick with my present 512x4 DDR400 PC3200 CAS3 modules for now and see how they work out with the new rig I'm putting together.
I went through THIS THREAD earlier today. But I still wanted to be sure because I don't know what difference in price I'll see if I were to go for 512x4 DDR400 single sided modules instead of regular dual sided ones.
Btw, is it worth moving up from my 512x4 DDR400 CAS Latency 3 (Hynix...
I'm planning to get an AMD Athlon64 4000+ San Diego core processor soon (monarchcomputer.com has it scheduled to start shipping from May 2nd). After quite a bit of reading all across the web, I gathered this, among other things:
Venice/San Diego CPUs will run single sided 512x4 DDR400 PC3200...
