If I had to guess I would say that you had some sort of a virus or whatever you want to call it on your machine that was using netsend to spam people using windows - if I remember right about what you are talking about. Just the other day I was looking at my router and I saw a rediculous amount...
So you have wireless internet access built into your laptop and you also have a rj45 jack as well - If you do and I am not a windows nerd - but I would think that you should be able to use one of the ports (wireless) to get on the internet and the other port (wired rj45) to connect to another...
oooooooor - you could make your own crossover cable from a cat5 cable if you have one although I am sure someone from the boards will tell you other wise.... I've done it - worked fine. Search google for a how to - all you have to do is cross like two wires or so.
