Like TheReaper says, you REALLY should switch over to XP. You should do it sooner than "soon." I understand the "one thing at time" thing, but XP offers a lot of stability beyond all the extras. It's nice to have a new monitor, and new video card, but I don't rate that above having Windows...

Answers are in the users manual, and you actually have to read the manual to understand why some things are available and some not. How annoying is that?! Anyway, some functions are only available when you are Analog mode. In DVI mode, some of the functions are not available. Self Adjust...

Thanks for an excellent answer Sadhu, it looks like it will be a 2005 for me then because i havent got the money for two 2001 side by side. You'll be very happy with the 2005 for your office A4 documents. It's really nicer to view documents than a large CRT, more "crisp" and less fatiguing...

No dead/stuck pixels and no significant blacklight issues. It's quite a bit brighter than my 8600 with WUXGA which I thought was pretty bright for a laptop. Try the NEC-MITSUBISHI BRIGHTNESS CONTROLLER. It works quite well.

The major problem I have is I recommend Dell systems to people all the time. Approximately 6 to 10 systems per year I even walk these people through the whole order process and setup. As of today unless Dell comes through with something wonderful I will no longer be recommending Dell products...

Yes, me too (happy with the 2001FP). By the way, ever tried a product called Optimax Cleaning Solution? They are supposed to have both a safe solution as well as an excellent washable microfiber cloth. Haven't tried it though. Will let you know.

Magicp, I do know that they have an 8 pixel policy in place, which they COULD enforce, if they want to. They just don't want to do that. My guess is that they would gladly allow a customer to return several monitors on the 100% Satisfaction Guarentee ... but would not allow you to keep on...

My experience was that the 2005 was not "easier" to look at. It was VERY bright, and very bright is not necessarily ... "easier to look at." Also, I spent some time trying to calibrate both monitors so that they looked fairly identical ... and that means that the white levels were also close...
