Now I am confused. I thought the BX1500 model was NOT supposed to have the network ports, only the phone/fax ports.
The BR1500 is supposed to have the network ports.
Which one is it?
definately get the StreetAtlas to use as navigation. It does give voice prompts. The roads are updated far more often. I like the Topo software, but it does have it quirks. Mostly the roads aren't that accurate on it. Love the 3D terrain viewing. You can download satellite images from...
I beg to dffer. The Tsunami can be had with a power supply. Here is an example. It is $129. Didn't have time to search around but I bet you can find one for $120.
Newegg has it for $121 but it is $16 shipping.
Edit: Missed the part about Newegg and tax. ZipZoomFly has it for $123
I have both StreetAtlas and TopoUSA. All of the Street Atlas maps are about 600 megs. All of th Topo maps are about 4 gigs. I have a 1 gig SD card in my pocketpc and was going to put all of the maps on it. Program would always crash. It has to convert the maps somehow when it puts them on...
I have the Thermaltake Tsunami and love it, except for the fans that came with it. I just finished replacing a 120mm and the 92mm on the side panel. Thermaltake fans died after only 6 months. Replaced them with Panaflo's and had to drill new holes for the 120 because they used a bracket to...
You can connect either a laptop or a pda to it via bluetooth. I can connect my pocketpc to it, but I prefer the laptop because you can store all of the maps on it. With the pocketpc you have to upload the maps that you are going to use to it. Not good for a long trip. It works good locally...
I have this and it is great. It logs data points that you can download later. I have it hidden in my car. If someone else drives my car, I can download the points later and see exactly where they have been and how fast they were driving.
I have the 200gb version of that drive and it is great. I also have the new 160gb with NCQ and it is noticably louder than the 200. The drive you linked should be the same as the 200 and it is quieter than the newer drive.
I just got a similar system from Dell with a 19" ultrasharp and a 17" LCD TV for $1250. And I live in a state that Dell charges tax for. So no that is not a good deal. I ordered and paid for a 3.2 and they gave me a 3.4. By the way the system is very quiet. I cannot hear it at all sitting...
It is an NVIDIA decoder but the site says it is compatible with the Radeons. You can download it for $20 at Nvidia. I think I have heard of 9700's running media center. Try the forums here or here.
I do not know the difference between the two. I think they just about the same though. I just got the 1905 as part of a dimension deal. It is really bright and sharp. I wanted the 2001 but got this practically free as part of the deal.
The only problem I can see with running the 2005...
I would get the 1905 to match the 1901. If you are going to run dual displays then it will force the resolution on the bigger monitor to 1024 vertical. The next best thing would be the 2005 since it has 1050 vertical I think? Personally I can't stand dual displays of different sizes. It...
500ma is the most power USB is designed to deliver. You won't find any USB card that delivers more power than that. The external drive has it's own power supply. Only small notebook drives can run off of USB supplied power because they draw very little power.
I hate the case also. I got a really good deal on an 8400 Media Center. (3.4ghz, 1gb Ram, 160gig HD), 19in Ultrasharp, and 17in LCD TV for about $1200. I took a 200gb seagate out of my main computer and put it in the dell for a drive to record tv on. In the other case the temps were about...
This seems to be what a lot of media center owner like if they are sitting across the room from the pc. I personally don't have it but am thinking about getting one. They are expensive! That is what is holding me back. It would be nice to use the mouse on the couch without a hard surface though.
Both drives are pretty fast. Note that I have the NCQ one as my operating system drive. I used to have the 200gb as my primary drive. If I am downloading something, transferring a file, have multiple apps running, and then open another app the NCQ drive is more responsive. Don't expect...
Oh and if you are installing Win XP on the NCQ drive and making it the boot, you have to configure the controller as an AHCI device and install the drivers at the F6 prompt and then the Application Accelerator when XP is loaded to enable NCQ.
Ok, I have both drives currently. The difference between the two is that the 160 has NCQ. It is supposed add performance. A lot of review say that it doesn't in a desktop environment. Well it depends on what you do. For me it does because I multitask ALOT. I can tell a difference. Noise...
I have an OCZ 520 installed in a Thermaltake Tsunami. It is a tight fit. I had a big problem getting it in because I was using another powersupply on the system and already had the motherboard in. As long as you stick it in there before the motherboard it will be fine.
I have also used 24" and 36" without any problem. That is the biggest problem with IDE in my opinion is the cables. I have a few SATA drives and can put them anywhere in the case and not have to worry about 2 drives on the same channel being near each other. IDE cables are a real pain for me.
My Asus P5AD2 Premium came with 3 IDE cables and 10 SATA cables. I didn't have to buy a thing. My Powerstream 520 has 2 SATA power leads and a PCI Express Graphics lead (although I don't think the 6600 requires additional power.) You should have everything you need.
