Win2000/WinXP HDD Problem

Nope, no disk management software. How do you check if it's dynamic? I opened up diskmgmt.msc and it shows both drives as Type: Basic.

Alright, well, my problem is: I've got two hard drives, a 200 gig "Primary" and an 80 gig "Secondary." I installed Windows XP (Formatted NTFS) on the Primary about 8 months or so ago, can't remember. Anyway, I had put in the new Secondary HD and formatted that NTFS for video editing...

CoD2 Demo - "1628: Failed to complete installation"

Yes, it's completely up to date. I ran windows update and it shows no updates available. I do not have Alcohol 120%, and I uninstalled Daemon Tools (that was one of the first things I did because I thought that might be the problem) but still get the error. Well, it worked fine on the Windows...

Hey all... What does an on-chip or integrated FSB mean, and how would that affect my buying options for a CPU? Specifically, Athlons. I keep seeing it mentioned everywhere but I can't figure out what it is/does. Little help here? Thanks.

Real CPU Core temp??

Hey guys, When I check the CPU temperature, it differs from where I check it. In MBM5, it will be around 37 degrees, in SpeedFan, the 3 temps are 35, 35, 37, but in the BIOS, it's reporting CPU temps around 57. What should I trust? --- AthlonXP 1800+ Gigabyte GA-7NF-RZ

Looking at getting new video card any recomendations?

Just look for the "GeForce 6800", nothing after the 6800. "nu" refers to "Non-Ultra", or the plain 6800 model. So that's the GeForce 6800, not the "6800 GT" or the "6800 Ultra". Just 6800.

SBLive Speaker Config Weirdness

Hi, I've got a little problem with my Sound Blaster Live. Whenever I restart Windows, the system won't remember that it has 5.1 speakers hooked up to it, and keeps resetting itself back to two speakers. This is evident both in the Creative Surround mixer (speaker set up is set to 2 speakers)...

Half Life 2 + SBLive problem

Hm. I got it to work. Originally, I was running without any drivers installed at all (using the built-in Windows ones)...but now, I installed the Creative SBLive drivers for XP. I never had the RealTek drivers installed, either. It works perfectly now.

6800 vs 6800gt

About unlocking pipelines: Most Card Manufacturers will sell a bunch of "defective" 6800Ultra's (the base card) as 6800nu's. I say "defective" because, in the manufacturing process, these cards are less than perfect (I.E., maybe one or two of the pipelines is physically broken...or the GPU just...

overclocking the elusive 6800gt

Running 415/1100 with a BFG GF6800 OC GT. Tried pushing higher, won't even pass the stress test. Could be the custom cooling system that BFG put in sucks. Dunno. Don't feel like pushing higher. My $30 PSU might not be able to handle it, lol...doesn't even do 20A on the +12V, I think...

Half Life 2 + SBLive problem

...I've got the same problem. I've also got onboard RealTek sound (nForce2 mobo)...but how do you route the sound through the SBLive?? The weird thing is, I get perfect 2-channel sound, but if I switch to 5.1 channel, the sound dissapears. (on the SBLive)

fps gaming and headaches

Well, I'd say about the minimum FPS a human eye can percieve as motion is 24. Since that's what movies run at. And even then, they're pretty smooth. I kinda like my games to run at 30FPS just for that fact...60 feels a bit TOO smooth for me. Unless I'm playing Q3 or something...then it...

What is the biggest newb mistake you have made since you got interested in computers?

XFX 6600GT AGP vs. BFG 6600GT AGP vs. BFG 6800OC

6800 Bus Weirdness
