Welcome to the forums :)
No, I'm not using a converter, I just plugged the connector in shifted all the way to the right. I am only running a modest setup in terms of power requirements, so your mileage may vary. The converter should not be necessary though.
Yup, getting the same message iin nTune too, but I prefer doing these things by hand anyway. One issue though: sometime when I start up (mainly reboots), I get the "System failed due to CPU overclocking" voice error. I just reset again, and it boots up fine. Everything is stable. I wonder how I...
Mmm...you should be able to squeeze out some more performance I would think, your memory is way better than mine and you have a 10x multiplier to work with. Is that the highest FSB you can achieve? Did you raise the voltages? I am currently running at 265 MHz FSB, and no problems at all. I could...
3DMark doesn't change much with CPU overclocking. The GFX card makes the big difference here. I just went with CoolBits and the clockrate that it suggested. Piece of cake :)
I went throught overclocking my system yesterday, and have been running various stress tests all night and today. I seem to have my A64 3000+ Winchester (stock 1.8 GHz) running at 2.4 GHz on the stock cooler in my Sonata. My Chaintech 6600GT is running at 582/1.17. Those overclocks were pretty...
I have my A8N-SLI running since Monday, and it seems to be running stable. I had some issues with crashes at first, but that was due to a faulty Ethernet driver. I updated it, and haven't had the problem come back.
Since PSUs seem to be the topic of the day, you should know that I run this on...
Yes, confirmed. Just got done installing XP minutes ago to a SATA Raptor. No problems, no floppy drive installed.
Awesome! Thanks for confirming that, SkyBum. Getting my board tomorrow, looks like I have everything ready then. :)
I wasn't really asking about the issues that this reviewer had, I'd just like to know whether I can install WinXP onto an SATA drive WITHOUT using a SATA driver floppy during setup.
SkyBum, can you confirm that I don't need a SATA driver floppy for installing WinXP onto an SATA drive? (I am assuming that you will go throught setup soon :)
Bingo, the second one is a laptop, AND is a Mac :) So that won't work.
I'm not making a RAID (have only one drive), but I am pretty sure that you need to have a driver floppy for WinXP installs onto an SATA drive because WinXP does not recognize the HD otherwise.
My board is getting here on Monday, and I want to be able to install Windows XP on it right away. Now, the only HD that I have is SATA. I understand that I need to get the drivers for that onto a floppy for the Windows setup process. Just looked at the files that Asus has available on their...
I have everything too...but only a single 6600GT for now, just as GuitarDaddy.
Concerning the 20-pin supply, I think that this is our answer

It was a the bottom of my order page, under
Your Order Note
Shipment: 12/09/2004 Ship Date: 12/9/2004 Pkg#: 1 ShipVia: FedEx 2Day Track #: XXX End Shipment
Two more things:
I am wondering if the board supports a 20-pin ATX connector (I want to use the Antec True380S from my Sonata case). I've read on several sites, and the ASUS press release, that it SHOULD work, and that EZ-Plug helps with it.
However, I just read through the manual and they...
BTW. If they ship out the board today, and use Fedex 2nd day, does that mean the boards will reach us on Saturday? Or does FedEx not deliver on Saturdays for this type of service, and we'll have to wait until Monday?
I just called too, and the guy told me that if I place my order yesterday, I would get it. They would send them out today. He said that ppl who ordered today WON'T get it.
Apparently they're getting lots of calls from ppl asking the same question :)
Now, I am hoping that my board will get...
AFAIK ATI cards will run fine, just not in SLI mode. I know that you can even run an nVidia card and an ATI card at the same time, with 4 screens, in non-SLI mode.
I am waiting to buy an nForce4-based motherboard and inted to use it with an Antec Sonata PSU (included in the case). Now, I hear that most of the newer boards are 24-pin, but the Sonata only has a 20-pin connector.
Some of the newer boards (such as the Gigabyte nForce4 board) say that they...
It could be worse :)
I am on a 4 1/2 year old Powerbook, and believe me, I can't run any 3D games at all. Really need the missing piece in the puzzle for my new rig: an nForce4 mb!
