This memory is great. I am able to tune it to the point that Membench easy is 116 and the best possible it says is 108 (lower is better).
Although I have the tCL set to 15 my motherboard refuses to use that and makes it 16. 14 doesn't work, but I am able to get tRCDWR, tRCRDR and tRP all set...
I ended up picking up the A-Data 3600 listed above.
I was pleasantly surprised to see they were Samsung B-Dies.
So far I ran memtest for over an hour running at 3600 and no errors.
I will run the test overnight tonight at XMP speeds and if everything goes well start playing with the timings.
The problem is I cannot find in-stock ram or they are significantly more expensive (well over $150) with lower timings anywhere.
It looks like people are buying up all the Samsung B-Die memory since Samsung stopped making it in June. This is making any with that module either hard to find or...
I must return my Corsair 3200 memory that I have due to errors. It happens and one bad module won't put me off to a company.
If I am replacing it anyway I thought why not bump the speed a little as I have been seeing reports that AMD is more influenced by frequency over timings and for a...
I am looking for an inexpensive ATX case (definitely under $100, better under $75) that has at least 4 internal 3.5" drive bays and one or two 2.5" SSD mounts as well. More than 4 would be a nice to have. I don't care about RGB or a see through side panel in fact I prefer not to have them, but...
I know that since I first purchased this cooler many years ago (a guess would be 8 years) originally for my E8400 and now has since been moved to my 3570k and it might, but probably not (as I don't think I have the ability to use the new socket with this version) move to my, possible, next...
Ordered the T-mobile one from slickdeals. They took my money (haven't checked to see if they refunded me or not) and it stated in stock and expected to ship on the 4th.
Amazon has them in stock as well, but at a higher price.
No emails or communication. I called them.
They stated the order...
Great deal. I wasn't sold on this router as recent reviewers have had quit a few issues with quality, but for this price it's worth taking the risk.
Thanks
I am looking into upgrading my wi-fi network to AC. I don't want to spend more than $150 and the lower the better. My current N300 setup will not work for the changes I want to make as there is no PCIe card that seems reliable with Win10.
I currently run an ethernet cable across my floor and I...
I have an older computer I am going to be giving to a friend and I have a license for XP and one for Vista. Trying to decide which I should put on it.
I know XP is not supported anymore and Vista had a bad reputation, but I heard that with service packs it got respectable, but I never saw that...
Installed the latest Intel drivers and still no issues with the cloned drive. I just don't get it. Everything the same except a clean install VS. a Cloned drive.
I will try another fresh install tomorrow. I still have the drive to clone if I run into this issue again.
BTW the motherboard...
Although if it was either of those issues why would it work perfectly fine in the same SATA port and with the same memory with a cloned drive rather than the fresh install?
Also I just did a Windows update and it seems to be working fine with the cloned drive.
I am going to try one other...
A few days ago I received my new MX100 SSD. I decided to do a fresh install instead of a clone. After fully upgrading to Win 8.1 with all the updates the computer started messing up. I got the "green ribbon of death" on the My PC screen and lockups, especially in Windows Media Player.
I...
With the current deal at tiger direct I can get a mx100 for about $85 for the 250gb or the 840 evo for $125. Which one would you get. In Tom's Hardware benchmarks the 840 writes much faster, but will that matter for mostly an OS boot drive?
Tempted, but does seem to have a high failure rate and only a 1 year warranty. Still might be worth the risk as all I do is file transfers and nothing is ever stored on my USB drives.
I have an Adaptec Raid controller card with 3, 2TB drives in a RAID 5 (I know many people hate RAID 5, but it works for me) and I need to increase capacity. Normally I would just add another drive and that would be it, but there is a problem. They don't make the drive anymore. I am using...
I am deciding between two laptops and one of the things I want to do is benchmark them both to see what the real difference is.
I already have Sisoft 2013, but what else would give me some real world numbers? I do not really game.
I do have both laptops with me.
Thanks,
Mark
This motherboard will not be in the HTPC. It will be replacing my ATX desktop. My current desktop will be the new HTPC system.
Did forget the form factor sorry.
My HTPC died. So I am going to replace it with my desktop (i7 930).
Now I need a new desktop and I am going to get the 3570k from Microcenter, but what motherboard to match it with?
I really don't need the 3570k's, but for the price I might as well if I can get the motherboard under $100...
I currently have an older D-link 655 with the "A" hardware. I find it occasionally kills my VOIP service, but otherwise I find it to be a pretty good device. I can't live with it killing my phone though and having to reboot the router to make it work.
So I have to find a replacement. AC...
Thanks for the Info. Microcenter has made the choice a non issue as the 2500K has been taken off the $50 off motherboard list.
So it will most likely be the 3570K with an Asrock motherboard.
Mark
I am going to be heading to Microcenter next week for a friend to put together a pretty simple system. For now we will just be using the on chip graphics.
The choices seem to be the I5 3450, I5 2500K and the I5 3750.
The price as of now is a $20 bump for each one. He will never need 3D...
Picked up the 17" Toshiba and while it is glossy I find it worlds better then the Asus.
If she needs it less glossy they do make screen covers for this exact one for under $20.
I think we have a winner.
I tried that on the Asus and it had limited success. It was better, but still not very good at all.
I will look at Walmart too. What I saw online wasn't encouraging, but we shall see.
So I am returning that Asus laptop today and I am going to look at 4 possible choices at Best Buy. Really wish I had an Office Depot near me so I can see that Lenovo they have, but I don't. The ones I am looking at are:
