*** Official Gigabyte P965-DS3 Thread ***

Is there a single, surefire way to solve the PIO problem with this board? Tried a few methods posted in this thread, but to no avail. Only using 1 SATA HD.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll have my buddy check'em out. Shame he's had so much trouble, all these driver issues or whatever it may be make it feel like an old VIA board I had.

My friend is on his second board, right now the Gigabyte DS3, and nothing we've tried will get his DVD drive out of PIO mode. It's been nearly a month since he first built his system, and still can't use it effectively due to all these PIO problems. Are there any good P965 based boards...

This board has been driving my friend and I nuts all day. His optical drive is stuck in PIO mode, and yet none of the solutions we've tried throughout this thread have worked. He's currently running his one hard drive(raptor, sata1) on the ICH8's SATA, set it to IDE mode in the BIOS, and...

Trouble Installing Intel RAID Drivers

Alrightys. Going to give this a shot later. Will make certain that BIOS setting is on SATA this time. Will install the AHCI driver. And will hopefully celebrate this time. Thank for the input, it's mucho appreciated.

Trouble Installing Intel RAID Drivers

The one thing that puzzles me, is the last time we installed XP, we did the floppy thing, pressed F6, installed the RAID driver, and still, we can't get this software to install. Should we have done the RAID driver or AHCI? He's only running one hard drive at the moment.

Trouble Installing Intel RAID Drivers

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Under device manager, the controller is listed as an Unknown Device. We've tried updating the drivers, and pointing to the RAID disk, but that didn't work. And we still get that error about minimum requirements when trying to install the Intel Matrix...

Trouble Installing Intel RAID Drivers

This Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software. This is the error my friend gets while attempting to install the software while in Windows. Yesterday, originally he had installed windows without using the driver disk Intel provided, and everything was fine...

Well, I think I might have it. I installed and made sure every driver was up to date. Except the RAID driver. Not full out celebrating yet, but its looking good.

Well, tried that, and it didn't work. I noticed there were 3 primary IDE channels and 3 secondary, which struck me odd for some reason. The drive is on the third secondary channel. Might any of that factor into it?

I think I'm just going to go the LCD route now. Don't know how long those would take to get around, and this is my first desktop in a couple years...waiting is killing me. Samsung 710T, although Dell's price is way high compared to Newegg...I have $100 coupon, but it basically gets nullified...

Any comments about the monitors I posted? When it comes to LCDs, the only ones that I'd be able to consider are the sub-$400 screens here and I have no idea if any of these would be a worthy gaming display, or where to look to find out about this. I've been using a laptop the past few...

I know this topic has been done over a bit, but conclusions reached from the other threads don't quite apply (sadly). After searching this forum and a few other forums for the past few days on best to go with, the obvious answer I see everywhere is the DP930SB. Well...thats not an option...
