X48 vs P45 setup - Need advice

Just curios Denithor, if you may explain on your post. Why do you think that the performance would be the same for 8x and 16x crossfire? 8x is still not a bottleneck for any of the cards out there? Or Is the performance gain not significant enough?

When you say 16x/8x, do u mean that it does 8x when in dual mode and 16x when it's in single? Or do you mean one slot works at 16 and the other at 8, and what happens to the one that is running at 16 when u are in dual mode, does it go down?

Well I think now that I heard your opinions I am going with an AM2 X2 setup, that way i can just buy a mobo and a cpu only. I am still suffering with a Pentium 520. Although I like my 925X chipset it certainly is time to upgrade. I will wait on C2D for better mobs

check page 32 on ur manual. there was also a conflict in the maxtor firmware although it was for the 6v series http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Moth...&ProductID=1881&ClassValue=Motherboard make sure ur chipset and bios is all new from this same page. although i still think PICNIC

IDE Controller problem

IRQ, memory addresses, ei resources are suppose to be assigned automatically. I would enter your BIOS make sure all resources are being assigned automatically. Also it could be that the mini pci slot is conflicting with it, taking resources before it, hence nothing available for it. Go here...

You said "it doesnt read over 108 fahr ever". What doesn't? Your cpu? because I think it might be ur cpy just getting too hot. use Sandra Lite or SpeedFan or something.

IDE Controller problem

Is that under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, under Primary IDE Channel in your device manager? What model is your laptop? OS? Is there anything else wrong with any another devices in your list of devices? Have you installed anything lately, hardware or software? How big is your drive?

Of the top of my head I cant see anything unusual in your setup. The issue might be software related. Try safe mode first with that drive. If you are still experiencing the same issue, try the USB to PS/2 connection and use PS/2. You might also want to copy the 8 GB partition into a partition on...
