Prob with DFI OCing

When adjusting ram voltage just use the + and - keys, don't hit enter and use the menu. There's a bug in the interface of the 1/25 bios that makes it always go back to 2.6 when you use the menu. I believe it is fixed in the 3/10 bios, you can get it at www.dfi.com.tw.

Corsair Value Select

My 3200+ seems to really hit a wall around 2.4. It'l do 2.4 at 1.45V, but cannot do 2.5 even at 2.55V. Zebo who seems to be pretty informed about these things told me in another thread that it is pretty common for winchesters to just hit a wall like that, and no sane amount of voltage can get...

As I understand a PFC regulates the voltage coming out of the wall, for example if you turn on your A/C and all the lights dim, a power supply without a PFC would pass that disturbance along to the electronics on your computer. A PFC will flatten out that disturbance, so your computer's...

To set memory voltage just put the cursor over the correct field and use the + and - keys to adjust it. Theres an interface bug with the menu if you hit enter, but + and - work perfectly with the 1/25 bios.

I'm running right now with the ram at 216mhz, 2.6V (240 fsb 9:10 ratio). I ran it through 1 pass of memtest, then bootstrapped gentoo which is very sensative to memory errors (it was failing before when memtest woulden't find any errors til the 10th or so pass). So yea, my ram is looking good...

I have that combo. I'm just getting to tweaking it, but it does NOT run at stock voltage and timings. I had to bump the voltage up to 2.8 to get it to run stable. I got a couple errors at 2.7V, and a ton at 2.6V. It does run really stable at 2.8, and supposedly (don't take my word for it)...

There is a user interface bug in the bios. Just bring the cursor over it and use + or - to change it. Hitting enter and using the menu does not work. As a side note, my corsair value select gives lots of memtest errors for each stick alone at 2.6, gets a few errors at 2.7, when I memtested...

Is the Winchester mem controller $#%@ed up?

Have you tried the ram in different combonations of slots? The chipset won't let it run at 1t if there are 2 modules in one channel.

Which Nforce4 Motherboard has quietest NB cooling?

A fanless HS is not possible on the DFI, since the chipset is right behind the video slots, so if you want to go fanless, gotta go Asus. Hopefully the DFI fan is pretty silent, I have a board in route right now.

Just Another PSU Question

And for those of us who don't have limitless money.... I'm looking at this one from cooler master. 450 watt, dual 12v rails, 24 pin with active PFC, all for $78.99. Not a ton of power, but definately not weak. Anything more than 500 watts is overkill in my opinion.

The standard recently changed. nforce3 and 8xx and before intel mobos used 20 pins, but with nforce4 and lga775 came the new 24 pin standard. Supposedly you can just plug the 20 pin into the 24 pin connector, but there are also adapters out there that turn 20 pin into 24 pin. I'd recommend...

2x512 vs. 4x256

I'd go with 2x512. Even some nforce4 boards will only allow memory to run at 333 if there are 4 sticks I have heard, and also at a 2T command rate, which also hurts preformance. I can't think of a reason not to run just 2 sticks, as 4 will provide no extra bandwidth and may cause problems.
