    "Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread

Hmm, guess I wasn't getting the facts straight in my head. First, in Linux I found both NICs work, so it turns out that it wasnt the PCI lock after all. I flashed back to the 3/10, and to my dismay sound still didn't work. I ended up reseating the sound module, which is a real pain since it...

I have noticed the same thing with the latest bios, also I seem to have lost sound. I'm assuming you are overclocked... i'm guessing they broke the PCI lock with this bios, since I think sound, sata 3&4, and the nvidia NIC are all clocked from the PCI bus. The marvel connects thru the pci-e...

Juandoh: Corsair Value Select works great, i'v been using it on this board since February. You just need to change the Max Async Latency to 7ns if overclocking, 6 if running stock, and the memory works fine. Without setting that i was getting the exact same issues. It ran totally stable even...

    Prob with DFI OCing

When adjusting ram voltage just use the + and - keys, don't hit enter and use the menu. There's a bug in the interface of the 1/25 bios that makes it always go back to 2.6 when you use the menu. I believe it is fixed in the 3/10 bios, you can get it at www.dfi.com.tw.

    Corsair Value Select

My 3200+ seems to really hit a wall around 2.4. It'l do 2.4 at 1.45V, but cannot do 2.5 even at 2.55V. Zebo who seems to be pretty informed about these things told me in another thread that it is pretty common for winchesters to just hit a wall like that, and no sane amount of voltage can get...

    wich one is better???

As I understand a PFC regulates the voltage coming out of the wall, for example if you turn on your A/C and all the lights dim, a power supply without a PFC would pass that disturbance along to the electronics on your computer. A PFC will flatten out that disturbance, so your computer's...

    wich one is better???

This looks like coolermaster's page for it... which says it has 25A on the +5V and 2 on the +5Vsb rails, so it is the same as the ALCY except for the APFC. Newegg's specs are probably just a typo. I have the Real Power 450 and love it. I'm running an oc'd winchester, dvd burner, 1 hd, a...

To set memory voltage just put the cursor over the correct field and use the + and - keys to adjust it. Theres an interface bug with the menu if you hit enter, but + and - work perfectly with the 1/25 bios.

I'v posted this before, but it looks like its been lost in the first couple pages. For anyone experiencing memory problems try setting "Max Async Latency" to 6 nanoseconds if running defaults, 7 if overclocking. This fixed all problems I had with my corsair value select, and may help for...

DFI NF4 Ultra work with Corsair Value Select?

Glad I could help. My value select will run at 225mhz with 2.8V. I'm not sure if its stable since I didn't test it much, but thats really good for value ram. I'm running right now with mem at 216mhz 2.6v, 1:9(180) ratio with a 240 bus. I'm pretty sure the memory is stable, since I was able...

I'm running right now with the ram at 216mhz, 2.6V (240 fsb 9:10 ratio). I ran it through 1 pass of memtest, then bootstrapped gentoo which is very sensative to memory errors (it was failing before when memtest woulden't find any errors til the 10th or so pass). So yea, my ram is looking good...

I'v now been priming for a few minutes with ram at 2.5V (software reporting a slight undervolting), cpu mult to auto tras 8, Max Async Latency at 7 and fsb200. It looks like that max async setting is the key to getting memory to work at a reasonable voltage. It may not be completely stable...

DFI NF4 Ultra work with Corsair Value Select?

I have big news. I set the Max Async Latency setting to 7ns, and I can suddenly run my memory at 2.5V. I also set TRAS to 8, since according to anand thats the optimum setting. Previously it would not even boot with anything less than 2.7, and took 2.8 to run stable. I am now VERY happy with...

DFI NF4 Ultra work with Corsair Value Select?

That thread is exactly why i went with the value select. Too bad it doesn't work too well... I'm thinking one of the "auto" settings in the bios is setting somthing too aggresively. I'd like to set all the parameters manually, but I really don't know what a lot of them do or what a reasonable...

I'm wondering if one of the "auto" settings that I don't know what they are defaults to a too aggressive value. I'l going to look into this and set some conservative settings to see if I can get to run a lower voltage. My value select is really confusing me because is actually won't run at...

DFI NF4 Ultra work with Corsair Value Select?

Yep, 2.8 just for stock speeds. 2.7 was _almost_ stable, but not quite. I have it going right now at 2.4ghz cpu with a 166 divider, so the ram is actually running at almost exactly 200mhz. Its working well. Beware though, on some of the lower dividers the bios sets aggressive timings that...

DFI NF4 Ultra work with Corsair Value Select?

I have that combo. I'm just getting to tweaking it, but it does NOT run at stock voltage and timings. I had to bump the voltage up to 2.8 to get it to run stable. I got a couple errors at 2.7V, and a ton at 2.6V. It does run really stable at 2.8, and supposedly (don't take my word for it)...

There is a user interface bug in the bios. Just bring the cursor over it and use + or - to change it. Hitting enter and using the menu does not work. As a side note, my corsair value select gives lots of memtest errors for each stick alone at 2.6, gets a few errors at 2.7, when I memtested...

Theres a couple comments about this, but I'd like some more input. My memory (2X512 corsair value select) won't run at stock voltages and timings. According to newegg the default voltage should be 2.5. My board defaults ot to 2.6V, but it is totally unstable at that setting. At 2.7V it is...

Which Nforce4 Motherboard has quietest NB cooling?

A fanless HS is not possible on the DFI, since the chipset is right behind the video slots, so if you want to go fanless, gotta go Asus. Hopefully the DFI fan is pretty silent, I have a board in route right now.

Which Nforce4 Motherboard has quietest NB cooling?

I haven't hears about the neo4 from MSI, but the neo3's cooling was supposed to be pretty noisy. The fan on the neo4 looks pretty standard. The DFI uses a nifty magnetic levitation fan thats supposed to be really quiet and last a really long time before it fails. How true this is, I don't...

    Just Another PSU Question

And for those of us who don't have limitless money.... I'm looking at this one from cooler master. 450 watt, dual 12v rails, 24 pin with active PFC, all for $78.99. Not a ton of power, but definately not weak. Anything more than 500 watts is overkill in my opinion.

The standard recently changed. nforce3 and 8xx and before intel mobos used 20 pins, but with nforce4 and lga775 came the new 24 pin standard. Supposedly you can just plug the 20 pin into the 24 pin connector, but there are also adapters out there that turn 20 pin into 24 pin. I'd recommend...

    2x512 vs. 4x256

I'd go with 2x512. Even some nforce4 boards will only allow memory to run at 333 if there are 4 sticks I have heard, and also at a 2T command rate, which also hurts preformance. I can't think of a reason not to run just 2 sticks, as 4 will provide no extra bandwidth and may cause problems.
