maxtor hd problem...hd gurus needed ;]

is the TDK 16/10/40 cdrw drive a plextor drive?

Just to let you know, Ian, I have the suspected Plextor/TDK also. I checked out your site and forum and it all sounds on par. My DAE is much faster than TDK advertised specs and I have all of the Plextor physical characteristics on my drive as well.

my TDK 16/10/40 is a plextor underneath, i think it looks much better than a plain vanilla plextor though. You cant go wrong with either one. Although I do love the software that came with my TDK very much.

I have a 64MB PC133 DIMM from them and it has never given me a problem. I have also bought several thousand dollars worth of equipment from them in the past couple of years with no problems to date. Good company.

All TDK veloCD 16/10/40 = plextors?

My TDK VeloCD (16/10/40 rebadged but much prettier plextor) ripped a cd starting at around 19x (the inner tracks of the disc) and by the time it was near the end it was peaking at a little over 42x (i guess closer to the edge of the disc). Average speed would probably be somewhere around 30-33x...

Best network card for under $30????

19 inch monitors?

I have the Viewsonic PF790 and love it. The only gripe is a slight screen bow that I cannot (after 1 year) adjust out. Nice picture and color though. I would recommend it.

I just got the Sony DSC-30 and it is a pretty cool camera. You may be able to get it online for close to $350. The LCD display flips up and rotates so you can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it.

Is 640K/320K that much better than 320k/240k DSL?

That is expensive for 640k. I Have 1.5Mbps down, 384Kbps up. ($95/mo) I only have 2 machines sharing this bandwidth so there is usually plenty to spare. I used a friends machine the other day - he has 512k/128k down/up....the difference was very noticeable. Of course 512 isn't slow, but...

PPPoE connection program recommendations?

Which sound card do you use & how do you feel about its audio quality?
