Finished doing this, I ended up going with 4-40x1/2" bolts, they still have plenty of thread sticking up, you could probably get away with 7/16 or so length if you could find them and be fine. Also I couldnt find any nylock nuts that are 4-40, so I used some lockwasher and regular nuts. Put a...
has anyone tried using the existing push pins for the NB/SB, but using bolts for the mosfets? I'd like to try and keep as little metal as possible sticking up near my cards :)
Just curious as to who else is stuck with Qwest as their shi11y local telco? Ooooh I hate them... their name brings flames to mind. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them over the last year, 3 to be exact... I thought I'd post a chat transcript of my most recent bad experience for...
I've got a high-def mpeg... it was broadcast here in 720P (1280x720) on Fox... Its kind of letterboxed in the middle of the screen but it still looks amazing. I need somewhere to host it!
BTW I just downloaded the one in the first post in this thread and my HD version looks quite a bit...
Zepp:
I went through around 6 replacements and kept giving them random serial numbers from whatever I had laying around, and I actually kept the second monitor I had received the entire time and they never complained.
I wouldn't count on it, i've seen personally 6 or so replacements and the only one that didn't have bad pixels had awful backlight bleeding... I'd much rather have 2-3 dead pixels and no backlight problems (which is what i settled for).
I doubt it because people are continuing to receive monitors that were built in December, and they would have transitioned to a newer revision by now. I do think they have improved their manufacturing process though, we haven't seen to many issues of problems with backlighting lately compared...
The 2005fpw i was planning on keeping had 1 green subpixel locked in the on state... after 2 weeks I noticed another green and blue one had locked on. I know for a fact these were new because I scanned the monitor with a fine toothed comb when I got it. Also it developed the dreaded circuitry...
I've decided to focus primarily on web programming first, which is still a very highly payed position, then I do design/graphics as an asside to that. Its been working out well so far.

On the massage thing, how long did you have to rub the area to get the pixel to work correctly again? And do you consider yourself having to push pretty hard? I tried on all of mine and it didn't help at all =(

You do need to realize some people are a lot more picky than yourself. I design graphics and do websites and its very important that what I see is what is really there. If I have to go hunting around the screen when I see something thats wrong then realize its a bad pixel thats VERY...

Do you have a link or something to the Dell 100% Satisfaction guarantee?
Also in relation to samsung, I could never find a link for it either, but their policy for sure as of this summer was that you had 7-10 days I believe to call them and request a replacement from the purchase date...
Sure I agree. Heck I just bought my samsung 710T LCD this summer and thought I'd be using it for a really long time, then just what, 5-6 months later im buying another one?! Anyway the only reason I mentioned Samsung is because they are the only MFGR that i know of that has a 0 dead pixel...

I hear ya. Problem is I found that widescreen really is effective for my work, (I do java web programming) and I've found a lot of the websites lines extend very far to the right so its very helpful to see everything on screen. Plus I'm getting an ATI HDTV wonder for christmas and of...
For those of you who have received units without any stuck pixels... all I can say is congratulations you are lucky. I've had so many replacements now I've lost track, but I think im on #4... and man its a winner, 5 dead subpixels to begin with. And when I say to begin with, the one I had hung...
I haven't tried VGA on my 2005fpw, however I have dual monitors and moved my main Samsung 710T to VGA and i noticed a very big difference stepping down to VGA... colors were more washed out and it was not as crisp as it was with DVI. I would assume the same scenario applies to the 2005fpw.
SLI - is a technology currently used by Nvidia (created by 3dfx) that links 2 video cards together, so one draws part of the screen while the other draws a different part, or they alternate drawing frames. Very expensive but very fast.
Having a smaller powersupply would only effect your...
Well I've noticed something disturbing on my 2005fpw, over the last week of use it has developed 2 more bad pixels, all green subpixels, bringing the total up to three. Has anyone elses developed bad pixels after use? Very strange. Also I noticed the front screen runs pretty warm to the...
So here goes:
Initial LCD: Backlight problem, no dead pixels
Replacement 1: No backlight problem, 1 dead subpixel
Replacement 2: No backlight problem, 3 dead subpixels
thinking im gonna stick with replacement 1... i can deal with 1 dead subpixel... not really wort5h the hassle to have to...
True but its their own fault for having low QA standards.. there's absolutely nothing wrong with a customer demanding a monitor that doesn't have any 'problems' with it. Especially if you spend an awful lot of time in front of it. Theres days when I spend easily 12 hours in front of mine, if...
Nope :( I called up Dell and got bounced all over trying to get a second replacement... but the customer service rep said he'd call me back in a couple hours with my dispatch number, kinda confused why he didn't issue me one there and then, but we'll see. If it boils down to taking 1 dead...
Great news guys, I got my replacement today and it totally has no backlight issues at all. However it does have 1 dead subpixel locked in the on position (looks green) towards the center of the screen. Not sure if I'm willing to risk a replacement over 1 pixel, thoughts?
