Advice for a silence freak

Just use Rivatuner to turn down the idle fan speed with some custom fan mapping... Thats what I did.

There is no thickness difference. The only thing that can allow a monitor to be "thinner" is LED backlighting. Which is why I really want something like the u2410 but with LED backlighting... That and because of the reduced power consumption! I'm not sure I can hold out much longer...

Gentle Typhoon vs. Antec Tri-Cool (For Intake/Exhaust)

Alright, I pulled out the old tricool fan with the knob. There is a tiny circuit in the knob, probably just for dealing with the detection of knob position, but most of the hardware appears to be enclosed with the fan motor. The knob is separate with three wires leading to the main circuit...

Depends on your motherboard. I'm actually using my mobo fan software to operate the fans, but Speedfan works well too.

Yes, there are cases that are better for quietness... But for price, build quality, and cooling, 900's are very good. And it doesn't take much effort to make it more quiet than your average desktop. Side note: After replacing the main fans, I discovered my GTX 275 was then making too much...

The Tri-cool will push more air, but I did not notice an increase in temps switching to the Typhoons. Those knobs are built into the fans, so its not really possible unless you want to do major fan surgery. Its better to use software based fan controllers anyway, since they keep it quiet...

I replaced all the Antec fans on my 902 with Gentle Typhoons and its significantly quieter. I use the motherboard to control the fan speeds.

Quietest PWM CPU Fan

Just wanted to leve everyone know, I bought that mini-controller and it does work :) I have control of the fan now via software. So if you have a 3-pin fan you want to use on a PWM CPU fan chip and maintain control of it, use that adapter.

To keep the airflow moving front to back. The two fans in the front blow into the case, and that fan blows back out towards the vent fan on the back. If thats a bad idea, let me know, but most of the similar setups ive seen with this case and heatsink have it layed out like this.

Quietest PWM CPU Fan

Think I found a solution on that site already: http://www.frozencpu.com/produ..._Controller.html#blank This way I get to keep the Gentle Typhoon (which I really like) but I can control it via the PWM controller (which I presume means I can control it via Speedfan)

Quietest PWM CPU Fan

I haven't posted here in awhile, but after building a computer a couple months ago (i7) I've found there just aren't that many comparison tests of PWM fans on the internet yet... I have a Xigamatek Dark Knight heatsink on my CPU but I've since removed the original fan which had a bearing...

Crashing Issue with new XFX 6600 GT AGP...

So this is wierd, last night I managed to play Doom 3, Battlefront and Everquest 2 for like 6 hours (between all 3) and it never crashed. So I restart the computer today, and try doom, and it goes back to crashing... CRAZYNESS!!! Anyway, this is what my lame Dell Bios setup looks like...

Crashing Issue with new XFX 6600 GT AGP...

As far as I can tell, I dont have a way to disable fastwrites or sb in my bios... Cant even disable shadowing. Its a bare-bones BIOs (darn you dell!!!) Like ive stated, ive tried 3 different power supplies, and im currently on an antec 430w Truepower and its not the problem.

Actually the fan is the loudest fan on my computer right now. Its definatly audible. My previous card was a nvidia 5200 FX The power connecter is pluged in. When its not pluged in, it crashes immediatly when opening programs! (I tried that too) I know my computer is not the best one...

Oh, I should probably also mention there has not been any artifacting and the games/programs all run absouletly perfect up intil the sudden crash.

Hi guys, im new here. I noticed that there were a few other folks on this board with new 6600 GT AGP cards, as opposed to basically everywhere else so I figured ill try here first... Im having a bad problem with my new XFX 6600 GT AGP, it crashes after 5-10 minutes of play in any 3d game...
