Acronis True Image equivalent for OS X?

CCC is great. Also, if you boot from another device (external HDD, Mac OS X DVD-ROM, etc) you should be able to use Disk Utility to make an image of the partitions you want to preserve.

I have been using my MacBookPro for well over 14 months now. Parallels works great and I rarely dual-boot into XP (only to play games about once a month). I find myself using Windows (via parallels) less and less all the time as I find more Mac programs to replace my Windows programs. But still...

Is it really worth installing Vista RC1 at this point?

I'm starting to use RC1 more and more. It's just as stable as XP for my use. And it's pretty close to finished anyway... RC1 = Release Candidate 1.

iTunes 7 for Mac - Stability issues?

I might try iTunes 7 on my MacBookPro sometime tomorrow. After the NIGHTMARE I had with iTunes 7 on my PC, I am now back to running 6.0.4 and 6.0.5 on all of my machines. I want to use iTunes 7, but the sound distortion on my PC was driving me crazy. Here's hoping for 7.0.1....

iTunes 7 is __terrible__ on my integrated VIA audio. The sound is distorted at best and there are many periods of "static" and "pops". It sounds like someone moved all of the EQ sliders to their max limit and then turned down the volume. Overdriven but not loud. This is very dissapointing...

You could share the contents of the DVD, yes. However this may be lacking any sort of copy protection the game might be looking for. But it is worth a try. Connect the two computers with an ethernet cable. Modern Mac laptops will automatically do the crossover for you...

Nostalgia: Got my hands on a PowerMac 7200/120

It's been a long long time since I've used anything that old... in some cases you might not be able to run higher than 640x480 unless you have the DIP switches, they are there to tell the Mac what resolutions the monitor supports. I really don't know.

G5 has water leaking from it!!!

Hmm, seems M-Audio hasn't updated their 7.1 card to PCIe yet. However they still have many USB and Firewire audio options, as does Tascam and a few other companies.

I find it funny that the MacPro is only available with quad cores (two dual-core woodcrest Core2Duo 4MB Xeons). No plain dual core option... for now. $200 cheaper if you're a student, teacher/professor, or parent. Mighty tempting, but I might wait until it includes 10.5 sometime next year.

Any idea when Dell will start selling Core 2 Duo computers?

Apple started shipping MacPro towers with Woodcrest Core2Duo Xeon (4MB L2 cache) CPUs today... so I'm guessing Dell will be doing the same maybe as soon as tomorrow.

I too am a little surprised there is no 2-core version of the MacPro... Woodcrest is great and all, but not everbody needs 4 cores!! (two dual-core Woodcrest Xeons)!!! Maybe they could have used a cheaper version of the Core2Duo anyway... the Woodcrest is expensive with its 4 MB L2 cache...
