Hi, OCZ Technology was started about 5 years ago. There was another company that was not OCZ Technology, but that was with some partners that did not have the best interest of the consumer at heart. The new company is what exists today and has no relation to any other company.
OCZ uses top...
I want to tell every AT forum member this: If you have a problem with any OCZ product that you actually own, PM me and I will personally see that you are taken care of to your satisfaction.
You can also visit our support forums for assistance: OCZ Support Forums
I can say that for a time...
That's a great setup. Monitor speakers like these tend to be very flat and don't color the music, but I prefer it that way. You can always EQ your player on the PC, but you can't take away a speakers built in "voice" and sound quality if you don't like it.
You are better off using a fan adapter or just getting a 3 pin fan. Some fans draw too much power from the motherboard fan headers and can burn them out. Sonetimes that's why the fan had a 4 pin on it.
I love the remark about being able to afford a new PSU and med Bills! Haha
Always be...
Wow, that's an OLD board!
There might be a size limitation with the on-board IDE controller. Have you tried using the RAID controller (if you have one) as an IDE controller?
I guess the issue here is that many of had these boards, but 20gb drives were pretty big back then!
Make sure you...
Once again, I never said that one of those PSU's would not power a "low power" rig. Some of you seem to get on an insult kick. I have to wonder if you would make the same comments if you were face to face with me or anyone else. The internet promotes bravery beyond common sense. Most of you are...
I'm not a salesman and I'm not trying to sell anything. People read these posts and get the idea that a 29.00 300w PSU will power anything they can build. Believe me that after 5 years of supporting customers with system issues i have pretty much seen and heard it all.
Thanks for the nice...
Well, with onboard video (or low power anyway) and a miserly processor I would agree. I have been through enough data corrruption and instabilty with my high end systems to know that nothing close to 300w (or 500w at times) will do. This is without a dual video card setup.
I will say that...
My suggestion would be to upgrade your whole system. You want a good PCI-e graphics card. A good AGP card may be hard to find and will not take you into any future upgrades.
Unless you want to buy all new components, you might just sell your CPU and motherboard and reuse what you have left.
Both situations probably won't creat a noticeable performance hit unless you are benchmarking.
My concern is more troubling as mixing memory types can lead to stability issues or may not run at all. Been there, done that, had that frustration (and tried to help hundreds of customers with...
Use some caution here!
There are some boards out there that won't boot at all with mis-matched memory. Some of the DFI boards are known for this. Even memory from the same manufacturer can cause this problem. Mixing kits sizes and chip types can cause these boards to plain refuse to boot at...
Yes, that would be for an AGP mobo.
I like using the 166 divider and setting the FSB to 250 myself. If you want the CPU to run a little cooler choose a CPU multiplier of 9 for 2250mhz.
Haha, I just happen to be using that same VNF4-Ultra board on this system. Apparently when Chaintech stopped producing motherboards they forgot to leave the manuals on the website (even though it was listed the VNF3 manual was not found)!
Oh well, when running 2gb a kit of memory (2 sticks)...
The FSP brand is very good quality and will give your system cleaner, safer power. You made a good choice choosing a name brand PSU.
As far as choosing the right size, we would need your system specifications and PSU specs. If it is running well, you probably made a fine choice.
You get what you pay for in reliabilty and customer service. I know a lady that wanted plastic surgery, so she shopped around and got the cheapest doc she could find. The results show (not to mention she nearly died......). ;)
As far as the life of a PSU, just figure that when you upgrade...
What OS are you running? If you install 4gb in XP you will only be able to use about 3gb of it. This is a Windows "feature". Windows Vista 64 bit will use all 4gb, but will save almost 1gb for other use, so you will have about 3gb free.
In general you want all memory to match. That doesn't...
They OCZ is of much better quality and this is why it costs more. We also have excellent support if you ever need it. Having a poor quality power supply can cause many problems with system stabilty and even damage your components. If it fails, getting a replacement may be difficult as well...
The Hitachi's are good fast drives IMO. I did have a 5400rpm model fail after 2 1/2 years of constant everyday use, but I replaced it with a 7200rpm Hitachi and it been great.
The DFI boards were a bit quirky in general and possibly your likes to see a single video card in the bottom slot, although I would say that's a bit strange. Do you have the 4 pin Molex and the floppy drive power connectors attached to your board? Many have skipped attaching these and with a...
I have the Chaintec NF4 board and although it's fairly forgiving when running mis-matched memory, the 1, 2 or 4 stick rules should be applied. If you could find a matching kit for your old kit (indentical) then you could run 2gb (but will take a perfromance hit). I would just get a new 2 x 1gb...
I agree with going with a 600w+ PSU ( I might choose a different brand of course, hehe). Taxing a weaker one will result in excess noise and possible hardware and stabilty issues. Been there, done that, got th T-shirt to prove it. ;)
As long as you have the latest available BIOS on your board, you should be able to put any Athlon XP CPU in that board and be fine.
Can I ask a question? When you installed the new HS did you use thermal paste? What type did you use and how much did you put on? The paste should only go on the...
I would say that without a doubt all game developers and hardware companies will embrace DX10 and Vista. It may be a slow transition, just like it was with XP. Also some companies might decide not to develop Vista drivers for their older hardware, so some PCI cards and the like might be...
Hi, other than your choice of memory (OCZ has equal to or better than of course :) ) This looks like a good upgrade plan You should see noticable gains in taxing games and in a power user situation.
As far as the PSU, look at your available amps on your 12v rails and be sure you have enough...
RAM comes in industry standard "packages" and modules are generally all the same height. I know of no "low profile" memory available.
It might be easier to go with a different HS design.
