I really hope TFT Central reviews the ZR24W soon. Would also love to see Anand have a go with it up against the U2410 and maybe a few others. Maybe a new 24" roundup or something. I have high hopes for this screen....

what CPu is it? i5-750? that stock cooler does have thermal stuff on it, so you don't need to add any. although i'm sure some will argue that it's not very good. But it shouldn't be a problem. PSU is plenty for that setup is there a jumper on the board to clear the CMOS? or try pulling...

Reusing old 420W power supply - Comments please.

I just built a Core i5-750 rig, with an ATI 5870 and two SATA hard drives, and reused my "old" Thermaltake 430W PSU. Stable at 3.8Ghz @ 1.3vcore.

I have Cooler Master Centurion 5 case. Room temp is now 19C at 3.8Ghz, 190X20, BIOS set to 1.3V, CPUz shows 1.34V: Idle = 35C Load = 71C I like it! that's pretty close to what the stock HSF gets at stock voltage

Very happy with the new cooler. For $30, you can't go wrong. Solid piece of gear. Seems well made, mounting was a breeze (except you have to remove mobo), screw and plates are heavy/solid. Going from 89C to 53C under load at 1.29 volts is cool. Now it's time to see what kind of OC I can...

well, at stock settings/speeds, i got about 18,000 3dmarks (3dmark06). did a weak little OC to 3Ghz, and got 19,642. sure beats the 8,000 I was getting with the 5870 and my Opty 170! Gonna google for some OC settings with this board/CPU and see what i can do. Although it screams even...

you are gonna have big gains i bet, even with the 4850. I still love that card. hell, BB has them on clearance for like $90. get a second one for xfire!

The only snag I've come across so far is with my Dell Ultrasharp monitor. If i plug in it's built in USB hub to my new build, it takes forever to POST, and if I enter BIOS there is about a 1 second lag for each keystroke. Once Windows boots, it seems fine. Unplug the monitor's USB hub and it...

well, i am still installing software etc etc. but i fired up Dragon Age for a few minutes just to get a taste. My frame rate was 40-60 with my 5870 and Opteron 170. Now it's hitting 170!!! money well spent gonna go sleep, downloading all my Steam games overnight. will post a 3dmark06...

Do all of them do that? I thought maybe it was just the couple of P55's with USB3/SATA3 that are out now. Is it gonna be that way on all P55's with USB3/SATA3? If so then I will for sure skip it and go X58.

XP event viewer is worthless for stop errors. you can download the Windows debugging tools, and symbols, and open the dump file for a better look. most of it may be greek, but it will tell you all the gory details.

yeah, I think you are right. SSD is another upgrade I've been looking into, and I see they are getting close to SATA 2 interface max.... I will probably throw my stuff on ebay and wait a little while for the next refresh of mobo's.

been playing Mass Effect after OC'ing to 2.5 Ghz. It improves things by about 10fps. Another thing I noticed is that the CPU usage isn't pegged at 100% anymore. Before, it would always be 100% in any game, all the time. Now it seems to flutter between 90-100% I can get between...

Agreed. Selling/returning the 5870 never crossed my mind, she's a keeper. I also never thought about selling my current CPU/mobo/RAM. Can't imagine anyone would want it.... Maybe I'll try ebay/craiglist. Thanks for the idea.
