youd should always reaply thermal paste when switching a cpu but I have found that sometimes you can pull the hs/f and cpu out at the same time and not sepperate them and it was fine. I would always reapply the paste if it isn't a hastle

well again I'll say this 55C is to hot to run an fx at LOAD. drop your volts a little until you get a new heatsink/fan and thermal paste. it is not a good idea to run it that hot. I set my system to shut itself off at 60C cus it's to hot. you may wanna look into water cooling but get your temps...
