The RX 480, 580, 590 all have the same memory clocks. Why is that? The 480 came out long ago. By now, I would've thought they could've increased memory speeds.
Does the chip not need the extra memory increase?
Let's say I'm after least amount of lag and best response times.
My game plays at 90fps. Does setting the monitor at 144hz vs 120hz give least amount of lag or no difference?
Whether someone notices or not is irrelevant. Will a high speed 10000fps camera notice?
nvidia tax on top of nvidia tax.
what new strategy will they come up with to put another nvidia tax on top of the nvidia tax that is on top of the nvidia tax?
They say this 200 card puts VR into the mainstream.
But I thought the barrier to entry was the high price for the headsets. How does the 480 change the game so to speak with VR?
So early adopters of the Titan and GTX 780 series got burned. The value of those cards dropped fast.
How long do you think the value of the 980ti will last?
Worth it to buy now?
So I know AMD next gen cards are dropping mid 2015.
When are the next gen Nvidia cards releasing?
And will the GTX 970 cards drop by a lot when amd releases their cards?
wtf. why is the flash sale not showing up in my main steam page? i see the sale when i go to 3dmark page.
is there a page i have to go to see all the flash sales? there must be more flash sales i missed because steam is not displaying them all.
and that is why you dont have paper launches and make sure your cards available to purchase on release date.
wonder how many 290x buyers would rethink the purchase if they knew about the nvidia price drop.

corporate strategy at its finest if true.
tell all partners the card will be $650 knowing that info will get released and you have nvidia show its hand.
780 ti is now getting price pressure. may not even be worth it for nvidia now.

the idea is fantastic, but actual feel with keyboard and mouse will be crucial.
smooth is not always better. who uses mouse smoothing in games? any knowledgeable gamer doesn't. but in demos mouse smoothing looks fantastic.

very odd they say this right when amd is releasing their card.
so obvious that something is fishy.
I think origin CEO has small man syndrome. amd has limited quantities of Hawaii and didn't send any to origin. all other OEM probably got a shipment or notification of expected stock. and rather...
so many gullible people on this board.
no new card is launching on oct 16/17.
think about it. why would nvidia stay quiet for so long with all the buzz for amd, and then quietly drop this "new card."
more importantly, a card this close to a launch date would have many other 3rd parties...
wonder why they teamed up with ubisoft.
ubisoft is not exactly PC friendly. and they have the uplay which competes with steam.

did something recently change? amd cards can run physx. but there is an artificial block on it. change the device id on amd cards and physx works.

amd is essentially tied into gcn architecture for the next 10-15 years (life of new consoles) if they push mantle hard.
for titles that don't use mantle this could be bad for amd. imagine playing bf4 with 9800 pro architecture.

how the 7970/50 benches on bf4 compared to nvidia's card will be very important.
nvidia has the edge over AMD in bf3.
but if amd can eek out a win on this game, then it will be a good early indicator of mantle's future.
true positional audio for 2 speakers is created in software. hardware is what will help drive this software but true positional audio needs to be supported by a dev.
we currently don't have 5.1 on 2 speakers. the last time it was done was creative eax on xp/alchemy for vista/7.
the reason it...
positional audio is not about creating the best sound stage, bass, highs, clarity.
its about changing the signature to mimic a sound coming from behind you with 2 speakers, or a sound coming from above with 5.1 setup.

glad to see audio making a big push.
creative eax on windows xp was orgasm for your ears. straight wall hacking.
last few years has been abysmal in the stereo positional audio.

generally speaking you have more misinformed consumers (noobs) buying nvidia. im not saying that's the case with the users on sites like this. but all my friends who don't follow tech are always wanting to buy nvidia.
remember the 8800gt rebadging? consumers couldn't get enough of the same...
for me? I always overclock, and have spoiled pricing expectations that aren't realistic.
I'm comparing it to the $250 7950 card, which can be OC'd to 1200/1700 and comes within ~10% performance of the 7970 ghz edition also OCd to ~1250/1700.
it would have to be priced ~$400-500 for me to jump.
congrats on the xfire. I'm thinking of doing the same, when the next amd card releases.
I'm just gonna have to keep the overclocks relatively mild considering i'm running a 650 watt psu.
pics of rig?
AMD's high-end has usually been very bang for buck. The exception is the 7970 going as far back as the 3870/50.
It's ironic. Competition usually lowers prices across the board. But AMD seeing Nvidia price gouging with their cards (even when AMD had the awesome 4870, 5870, and 6950) has given...
I'm more excited that they look like they are getting rid of that silly gpu shim (raised area around the gpu).
finally more aftermarket cooler compatibility.
