VGA to TV 1024x768 scan converter upgrade info?

RobsTV--I've got a TView Gold Scan converter that I've never used that I'd be willing to part with. The box is open (display) but it has never been used. Your email isn't displayed in your profile, and I don't want to post any prices in this forum (definitely MUCH less than the E8ay price)...

GF2 MX Cards: Looking for a U. S. Distributor

That is indeed the card I purchased, and it is indeed the Gainward CardExpert Geforce2 MX Twinview Golden Sample. It is a dual VGA card, and also has TV-OUT. It has 5.5NS memory chips (different brand chips than the review, but still 5.5NS). I haven't installed it yet, as my new motherboard...

You should be able to find the Gainward GF2MX GS at KDComputers. That's where I got mine from. They are very helpful and don't overcharge on shipping.

No problem. I almost ordered from mixpc until I read the comments on ResellerRatings. I held off a couple of days until KDComputers had it in stock. The strange thing is that I emailed Gainward asking where I could find it, and they suggested MixPC. They probably wouldn't make such...

Unbreakable thread (spoilers)

I agree completely. It started slowly and never got up to speed. And you are right about giving away the ending. Every time "Elijah" said that they were so much alike, just at opposite ends, you just knew he was going to be the villian.

Get it from KDComputers. They are EXTREMELY helpful and won't charge you an arm and a leg for shipping. I purchased mine from them and had it in my hands in two days!

Best Geforce 2 MX out there?

I would definitely recommend getting one with 5.5NS memory. That way you can overclock to slightly offset the bandwith deficiency that the MX has. Here is one possible solution: Gainward CardExpert GeForce2 MX Twinview Golden Sample

When I reformat my [H]ard drive how do I back up my OUTLOOK?

Outlook, or Outlook Express? There is a BIG difference in how they store their data. If you want to store your Outlook info, just search your computer for *.pst...This file will contain all of your outlook information.

Question regarding a virus...

I'm NOT familiar with that specific virus and how it propogates, but if you put the drive in your computer as a slave (or master if on another channel), and booted to DOS using a floppy, you could then transfer data between the 2 drives by just copying the data files over. I would strongly...

Messages in Outlook

Windows 2000 stores application data in folders by user name. Your Outlook file should be in C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. It is probably called either outlook.pst, mailbox.pst or *.pst depending on whether you may have changed the name...

RAM Advice

The difference is the PCB. The chips used are actually the same. There is very little difference between the two--not enough to warrent the difference in price in my opinion. I can't remember the specifics, but I believe they cleaned up the traces a little bit to strengthen the signal...

There are a couple of things you can try to get APM/ACPI power management with Win2k. The first thing to try is to go into control panel>>Power Options, and see if there is a tab there that says "APM"...If it is there, you can simply select it, and check the box that says "Enable...

I had a thought, is it possible for me to Telnet into my campus account with multiple windows and crack RC5?

Not to mention, if your sysadmins have any idea what they are doing, they have set process limits on all student/user accounts. For example, any process (for example, the dnet client) may automatically be killed when it reaches a certain threshold of CPU time or running time.

I agree with dirtboy. The navbar on the left is too wide. To see why I believe that, set your screen resolution to 640x480, or even 800x600 and you'll see what I mean.

known 10/100 compatability issues with older puters?

I also just had a problem tonight with several NICS in SS7 mobos running Win2k. Tried the Linksys lne100TX--they worked in a MSI KT7 motherboard with a Duron processor running Win2k Pro. They did NOT work in 2 SS7 motherboards--400MHz--running Win2k Pro/Server. One of the machines would not see...
