IMHO, I'd love to set a proxy for espn360... Anyone know an easy way how I could do this to watch espn360 at the office using my home internet connection for the authorization?
Just give in nuonce. Make sure you have a few weeks with nothing to do - this game is supposed to be incredible.
As for Sid, check out interviews on /. w/ him and the dev team.
Ok, here's something I can't figure out.
Recently, full screen directx games have been minimizing on
their own every few minutes. It's really annoying as games become
unplayable.
I run WinXP Pro on a Compaq Evo N600c. The directx diagnostic tool
reports that everything is ok. I have 384 mb RAM...
Here's my setup:
A Dell laptop with extended monitor. A random desktop to run off the single external monitor connected to the laptop.
Cordless Logitech Elite Duo. It's connector is a Y-plug of one usb, one ps/2 (labeled mouse). I have an adapter to convert the usb to ps/2.
I need a KVM that...
Damnable hot deals. Making me spend $100 I shouldn't.
Now in order to use this big hulking drive with my laptop I'll have to buy an enclosure and usb2 pc card for another $70-$80.
Damnable hot deals I say. Damnable.
:)
So, for whoever has it, any reviews?
Reviews that compare it to the Canon elph line are especially appreciated.
FYI, if you click on over to www.camerasandelectronics.com you can get it for $340. No clue about the store or the shipping - probably grey market.
Is it just me or is the camera actually $399 on pre-order?
There's some discussion over at dpreview of image quality, but not much. Be nice to see a full review of one of these.
Same tradeoffs - portability vs desktop replacement.
I'm happy with mine, but I wanted a machine with that physical profile. Performance-wise, it will run what I want and play a decent game of Civ3 or whatever strategy game I might want to play over the next year or two...Then again, I play...
Got mine the other day and it's great. Thin, light, great screen, great keyboard, solid build and fast. It is weighted a bit awkardly (the cd-rw/dvd weighs a ton and unbalances the laptop), however with the weight saver in (included), the thing is a feather.
Can't wait to get the multiport wifi...
I can't wait for Time Warner to offer Tivo in my market (manhattan).
I would probably get this, but I don't have a phone line and I'm scared of Tivo turning off broadband support since they don't officially support it.
Can you sign up for Tivo service over ethernet initially?
The T-series is the 'top-of-the-line' machine because it's thin and light. It costs a ton most anywhere. You can pick up a T23 on ebay for $1500 or less depending on the IBM auctions of the day/week.
The A-series is the desktop replacement. So, they're fatter and heavier, but bigger screens and...
DTBH - Hrm, only a normal XGA? That sucks. The description is pretty clear that it's a 1400x1050 SXGA+ screen. I'm really psyched to get this machine and I do not want to have to return it because the description is wrong. I really want those extra pixels ;-)
Display Type:
14.1" TFT active...
I don't think any pc-cards out there do both at once. It would be nice if one of the dual enclosures would also act as a hub for both...
I figure that if I'm using one of those things I'll need to be at a desk anyway, so the card isn't that big a deal.
Would be nice to have a port replicator...
Anyway, I just called in to order because their website's registration was really messed up. I think I'm going to miss out on the 2% from ebates though :( I didn't want to see them go out of stock on me since I've been laptop shopping for a few months now. This is one of the most-discounted and...
deal discussed a bit in the a31 thread - i agree, good deal on a good machine. i'm jumping in, but the website is slow. i wanted to wait and think more, but can't do that when it gets posted on tech--bargains
Seems to be OOS on the A31 w/ Palm. I get "The product you requested is currently not available." when I click the link.
Still mulling the Compaq Evo over...I think I'm going to leap and it's about time...Less than 5 pounds, but just missing that Thinkpad sex appeal.
That hub will support anything with USB, just load the drivers. You're getting a usb hub with a parallel and serial port. Not bad. Should revive the other thread to discuss the hub, though.
If it's the same system, my logical sense says to get the cheaper system with the palm ;-)
Of course, I'm thinking that I'm going to get that Compaq Evo600c. I just need to talk myself into it and then hope that it's still there by the time I get to buying it.
I think the Evo 600c from Warehouse is a decent deal.
http://www2.warehouse.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=CP18917&blind=no&cat=pc
$1000
1.2GHz, 30GB hard drive, 256MB of RAM, CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives, integrated 10/100 Ethernet, 56K modem and a 14.1-inch TFT active-matrix display (SXGA+).
Also has...
Seems to be a good deal to me and I just might jump...

Sweet powebook clone notebook. Caveat is that it's store brand, but somehow I'm not too worried.
2400 original
-100 instant (don't know how long this price lasts)
-200 MIR (exp 12/14)
-400 MIR (exp in '03)
=1700 + tax
Anyway...
Yeah, but you can do the same w/ T-Mobile, get a cheaper/cooler phone, w/ free weekends and w/ national roaming.
In a lot of GSM areas they have the exact same service, but I do admit that Cingular has a much better logo and commercials.
Of course, I still have Cingular, but it's a two yr-old...
This is great...I was going to grab 2 lcd's for work...Now, I wonder if that means I can take the 3rd home w/ me :) Somehow I doubt it.
Anyway, can I do this online? I'm assuming no.

Here's my question....Will this plan's terms ever expire? As in, my contract is 2 years, but the night minutes are a "bonus" that expires after 1 year.
I know AT&T does that.
Right now I'm on TDMA cingular and living in NYC. It works ok and my plan is the old no roaming whatsoever kind, which...
Well, there is one clone out there now: http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11178359
Looks nice, but the price is $400 too high for the best buy brand w/ a one year warranty.
So, manko, do you work for Dell? Is there any kind of linkage?
I just hope they add usb2 and other goodies to the...
