Arctic Silver or Ceramique?

I've read this a few times on different threads in the last couple days. I'm currently using AS5 but I have no qualms about going out and buying some Ceramique if the capacitative nature of AS5 is truly dangerous. I'm of course overclocking my system, not sure if that makes any difference.

I don't trust my mobo temps...

yeah that's what I'm starting to learn. I reset the thing like 5 different times on 2 different NF7 boards and I was getting way different temps on the different boards heh. Now my temp swing is 12C or less, from 38C to 50 on load after like 5 hours. :)

New pc overclocking help

just read the basic sticky threads here and then learn by trial and error. I asked about 2103843294 (I'm still asking questions heh) but I've found that doing it, getting stuck and asking for help/doing research is the best way to learn how to oc. There is a TON of information out there and...

It's more just a principle thing. I mean I'm sure my temps are fine, I'd just like to know for the sake of knowing. Btw Zebo I'm running @ 230x11 testing prime on it as we speak :)

PLEASE GOD NOT SYNTAX I ordered a syntax mobo once, worst experience of my life. Thing was DOA and it was literally impossible to get a hold of them. If I wasn't so lazy I would have filed a class action lawsuit against them. Plus they just suck in general.

ugh... TELL ME MY TEMPS!!!!! =/ I mean I'm sure I'm fine as the article mentions that abit actually tends to exaggerate the temperature while Asus tends to underestimate. But still...everytime I close my eyes I just picture my cpu begging for help and then blowing up. Okay not really...

I don't trust my mobo temps...

I'm at 1.8vcore atm and it shows loading at 50, but I had similar loading at low vcores. I also read an article that showed that the Abit boards tend to read high. I just in general don't trust the bios readings and I'd really like to know my actual temps. Anyone know a cheap way to get some...

theoretically, yes, logistically, no. I mean I can use a memory divider but the max mem divider on my board is 6/5 which, unless I can get to 233 FSB, actually underclocks my memory. At this point I should probably point out too that my purpose here is ultimately to have a decent computer...

Yes, yes they are =P Best $85 I ever spent :) I actually tried that this morning, wasn't prime stable and I'm sure it was the voltage (had it low, forgot to turn it up). I primed it for a few hours @ 215fsb and it passed just fine, although my temps were high, moved all the way up to 50...

well the high multiplier and low vcore was definitely the problem before, but when I run a divider I can pass prime95 just fine. it's when I get towards 215 FSB the the ram starts failing memtests, even when I leave it at 9 or 10x multi.

difference between BH5 and CH5?

hmm...my voltage is way too low then, I didn't realize that I need 1.7v to get that high, most people on boards were saying they were getting 3200+ @ near stock voltage. Okay I'll try that, thanks :)

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm at 1.55vcore atm and I'm sure my memory isn't hte problem as it's not even running at the minimum speed it's rated for. I've tried increasing the multplier also and am not having any luck...

Athlon XP-M overclocking questions

I got to 3200+ very easily with the GA7N-400 Pro2 Rev2, but the low vcore and no multiplier change option makes those boards totally worthless. I picked up an NF7-S v2 and am loving it. If youc an afford it (it's cheap, like $90 on Newegg) DEFINITELY get it.

AMD Athlon 2400+ Overheating!

Um, I wouldn't touch my hsf with 70% stuff heh. Go pick up some 99%, it will do a MUCH better job of cleaning. The AS5 instructions specifically call for 99% because, obviously, 99% of it will evaporate. The problem you may be having may be that the 70% is leaving a residue that's preventing...

No Overclock Success with axp 2200+

hmm, well first check that your latest bios is actually useful to you. If it doesn't include any usefu updates then revert back to an old bios to see if that fixes anything. If the AGP is set to 66 then you're fine. Those temps are high though, anything nearing 60 is a bit too high IMO...

Um, you have the AGP locked at 66 mhz right? And 2.2ghz is quite ambitious for a chip that isn't really known for it's overclocking ability. If you were running a mobile barton or something it'd be different, but 2.2ghz is quite a jump in clock speed for a 2200+,. Also check your temps...
