Ok so I pulled out the BIOS just for the hell of it, and fired it up. The comp powers up for about 5 or so seconds and then just shuts off, same as when then BIOS is in.
Mite this mean the motherboard is fried? I don't want to pay for a new BIOS chip just to find out it wasnt the problem! =)
Ya, that?s another thing it was over clocked when I did the reflash.... =/
Also, if I had the back up disc it wouldn?t do much good it doesn?t even get to the post screen and when it is checking the disc drives it just powers down.
The BIOS chip does LOOK removable but I don't know for...
My MSI K8N Neo nForce 3 mobo was running extremely high voltage even when it was set low. So I used the MSI Live Update to re-flash my BIOS, it got an error (which I cannot remember) but still kept going.
After it was done the computer worked fine so I waited a few minutes and restarted the...
I am looking for a good gaming laptop, I would like it to be AMD, have a 6800 or 7800 PCI-E card, and have a GIG of ram. So far all that I have liked is the Acer Ferrari but it doesnt have the high end graphics card I am looking for.
I would like to stay under a 2k price tag as well, TIA for...
I am running a GeForce FX 5700LE 256mb right now, If I were to go the cheaper route (6600gt or x800gto) would I notice a big diference over my current card?
Also what is the 6800nu? All I know of is the GT, and Ultra.
What ever I get I want it to be 256mb, I see alot of 6800GT AGP's that...
I am looking to upgrade my video card but I want to stay 8x APG so I don?t have to upgrade my mobo. I want to stay in the $250 range, I wanted to go with the GeForce 6800 GT but it seems all the ones priced around my range are out of stock.
I was also thinking about the x800 xl but it is...
I recently noticed an option that says somthing to the effect of limiting the ram speed. Is this what I would use to divide the ram? Set the ram "limiter" to 166 so when I oc the FSB the ram is going up from 166? TIA
Ok so I couldn?t find any option to divide the ram, I just updated my bios to 1.9 and still nothing. Do I not understand correctly? I was thinking there would be option to do FSB X (what ever divider) for the ram? Also ClockGen has the "clock" part grayed out for me, I read on the site to set...
Also my MSI mobo has "Dynamic Overclocking" which has different settings that I can select where it automatically overclocks the CPU when it is running at full load. It has settings from 1%-11% but when I enable this, the computer will not even boot and I have to reset the BIOS using the pins.
***Sorry for the newb question!***
I have read alot of over clocking guides and from what I understand to raise your FSB your need to raise your RAM as well (I have a gig of Kingston hyper-x pc3200 ram.) Now when I go into the bios I do not see any option for raising RAM. I have bumped up the...
Haha the 3700+ clawhammer is now down to $159! Sorry Charlos and who every else bought it at $175! hehe :)
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=A64-3700
Haha, the price threw me off! :) I am going to spend a few more days looking for a newcastle that is cheaper, if I cannot find one I will be ordering a 3700+ as well!
Well the desk broke and the computer fell, in the process the HSF and chip broke loose and some pins broke off. I tried it with the missing pins, it didnt work. The anandtech live price thing shows the lowwest 3400+ Newcastle as 195, I dont know many other places that have such a thing. I MITE...
The pins on my 3400+ Newcastle just broke and I was looking to replace it. My same chip runs about $195, but I found a 3700+ clawhammer for $185. It runs at 2.4 just like the 3400+ Newcastle but has the 1mb L2 and my question is, should I go for the 3700+??? I want to stay 754 for now, and I...
UPDATE: ok i found a old DVI cable and it does not run at any resolution except 1024x768 and lowwer, same goes for warcraft 3 (this looks funny since it is not wide screen format.) Another thing happening is movies on my comp in Windows Media player just come up blank ( i have my old LCD hooked...
Ok i just got the Olevia 30" LCD that i plan to use as my computer moniter (got it for $850) the only setting it seems to run at it 1280x720 anything else either the text is screwed up, or the graphics are screwed up. I remember seeing somewhere that you need to use the powerstrip program but i...
I have a 3.06ht northwood 533 fsb (socket 478) chip, and i want to to get the best overclocking mobo for it. What i have in mind right now is the MSI 865G NEO2-PLS i865G LINK I really like the corecell tech msi has, do you guys recomend anything else to look at?
what do you mean the newer steppings aren't good? I hear here and there people talkin about the date of there chips, why exactly does this matter? sorry if this is a dumb question! =)
that OCZ is kinda expensive i was looking to stay under a grand... the FX isnt really good for overclocking right? i know it is better in the long run, but i want the fun of overclocking! About all of my other questions any other opinions? so far i am thinkin about that nForce 4 ultra (been...
I have read so much about OC'ing i want to dive into it now, i am just wondering what would be the best parts for a OC'ing machine? I have heard alittle about AMD M chips that have there multiplier unlocked, is this a good route to go? what about these kits i see to unlock a chips multiplier...
I know its not easy to OC a dell, but i am planning to buy a new comp to OC and i want to go through my trial and error stage on this computer so i dont screw up somthing new! ^^ i have a old mobo that supports the dell chip laying around, do you think if i threw the chip in the other mobo it...
OK i read somewhere that if u have a dell (which has no ability to edit FSB and other overclocking functions in the BIOS) and you can discover the real board type (since it has dell all over it) u can flash the bios and unlock the functions? Is this tru?
I am currently in the process of setting up a new computer, and as for my current one I thought I would try my hand at OC'ing. I have been through many guides including the sticky on this site and though I have obtained a lot of knowledge I am still stuck. My computer is a DELL Optiplex GX260...
Thank you for your help guys, but i have a new question. Since this chip isnt going to work does any one know what the cheapest processor i can get that my mobo will support. I just want to use it for storage so speed isnt really a issue, thanks again for your help so far and thanks in advance...
I belive the fsb of the 1.7 is 400 (according to dell website, b/c it is from an old dell dimension 8200) the mobo supports 400/533. Also the old chip was 533...

Thanks in advance!
Ok, so i had a 2.66 p4 chip in my PC, and certain events have taken place so that chip is now out of the picture. Now i took the 1.7 p4 chip from a old computer and and have inserted it in the mobo, they are the same socket types so i asumed it would be compatible. When i turn the computer on...
