GeForce 6800 Ultra problem

what ARE your temps? i doubt its throttling. did you try disabling fastwrites? i forget how, but try to find the command to show hidden options in the bios. do that, then make sure "nvidia speedup" or similar is disabled in the "cell" menu. that automaticly overclocks your card, and it can...

The Power Supply Conundrum

if the PROCESSOR was using 12v, think of the heat THAT would generate! its pretty obvious it uses the 12v rail, since all recent mobos have the new 12v connector for the processor. that was unnecessary earlier because processors didn't need the extra juice. thats just the way processors work...

5201 3dmark05 with GeForce6800/71.84 Xtreme-G

thats hard to believe...insane my 6800GT seems to have some problems at anything over 400MHz, even with a VF-700Cu.

What Video card would you guys recommend?

dammnn thats insane. also, sorry but i didnt think to keep track of processor types/original speeds for p4s :( i dont even have the processor type for the AMDs in my spreadsheet but i put it in the thread...ill have to change i guess.

thats for 1M man, not 32M :) still, 24s is insane for 1m. for comparison i get 32s. yeah i don't care if you use a patch for the northwoods, i doubt any will beat the prescotts in the top 5 so it shouldn't matter anyway ;) awesome score BTW thugs :shocked: Nick PS how did you oc that...

6600gt performance good with unreal 3 engine

yeah, but the engine isn't done yet and im sure the final will run better. i can imagine a 6600GT running UE3 at 1024x768 with no eye candy (AA/AF) at 30+ fps average, which IMO is damn good for how good UE3 looks :) UE3 looks to be very CPU limited like the Source engine, advanced physics etc...

http://hardocp.com/ this is for real; they saw it in person. i doubt they will make many of them though probably a limited edtion product. i'd rather have two seperate video cards then 2 cores on one card personally, less heat issues i would assume.

are you using AA and AF? if so then i would guess yes, your video card is limiting it. thats a really nice score for 4x 8x, good job :)

Help me I may be a retard!!!

yeah i just payed the $13 and got a huge tube of ASC from ZZF. good stuff, and i dont have to worry about it frying my $400 graphics card. the temp difference is more then 1C from generic paste, more like ~4C. not bad for the few pennies you spend on each cpu core :P

Never Using Prime95 Again...It's Ineffective

memtest 86 didn't do it for me, i pass all night long but i run windows based memtest and i fail after ~30 minutes.

yeah the stock HSF will most always bring you to the pratcical max of your chip; by practical i mean any clockspeed using ~1.6 vcore ;)

yeah i've had 0 problems with my Zalman VF-700 Cu. 42C idle 58C load, can't ask for better on air. That sapphire looks awesome PS wonder if its AlCu or Cu?

WOW! Congrats, you just fried something on your card! NEVER listen to just one person. Always get another oppinion before you do something stupid like jumper the fan...you dont have to do that! If you read the instructions for the VC-700 Cu, it says just to plug the fan connector in to an empty...

Half right, half wrong. His size is fine; 256MB is about right if your system has 1GB of ram. Aperture size IS_NOT an extention of video ram in any way. It determines what size the data chunks that are transfered from system ram to video ram are or something along those lines. It's not "extra"...

yes, he said that in his 3rd sentence. thats reasonable. winnies tend to hit 2.5-2.65 on about 1.54v, and some will hit 2.7GHz with enough volts (1.6-1.65) and thats probably do-able on water. theres alot of assumptions there though.

sounds like a driver driver issue, AOE2 will run on my calculator. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1004 i suggest those drivers; if you arent afraid of betas. they have no issues found so far.

How much performance gain from 9700Pro to 6800GT?

Is my 6800 locked?

mine does that too, must be normal. only happens when i do Detect optimal frequencies. dont_use_that. it's basicly random, and isn't reliable at all. it said that my GT could run at 430/1500 when in reality it's max stable speed was 400/1100.

Triple Buffering?

Nvidia cards CAN use tripple buffering, I do in WoW. No option in the driver panel though, I think it's all app controlled.

Beta nVidia drivers and World of Warcraft

no, the OP is right... a ton of the newer betas have WoW problems BUT! I have the perrfect set of drivers: LINK! no WoW corruption, no de_aztec spots, no yellow water, no temp problem for me....no problems whatsoever so far. been using them since they came out with no problems.

i wouldn't go two GB, thats overkill. plus with 4 sicks it kills your performance, and GB sticks are damn $$$. 1GB is enough unless you want to play two games at once ;)

another vote for A64. is this true?!!??! 850MB for BFV?! i swear, EA makes some of the crappiest, un-optimized game engines the world has ever seen. Sims 2 BF BFV MOH:PA NFS:UG2 (not as much so as the ones listed above) and what do you mean hosting the game? lan?
