These chips are hot. Running my I7 on noctua's cooler at 3.8ghz i hit 85c, so i backed it down to 3.6ghz which is still a toasty 73c.
One thing that helped with overclocking and just made things a ton easier was loading the X.M.P memory profile. Fixed all my instability issues.

I don't know what's good! All the hardocp reviews say "HARD OCP FAIL!" at the end... and most of the review sites you would have to have an idea what you're buying to gain anything out of the review unless there is a recommendation section.

The funny thing is the only way to get it to turn back on is to actually turn the monitor off for like a couple minutes after i've loaded somethinng, then just turn it back on. And yes there is a auto calibration.
My psu is a ocz modstream 520watt.
So i've had this system for some time and just out of the blue it started having this strange problem.
When i load windows it will turn the monitor off after the windows logo, go black, and blink off and on on the power button. It turns back on after windows fully loads and goes to the desk...
It's not about seeing the fps, it's about feeling them. After you spend 7 years of your life playing video games you can feel the slightest frame drop even if it's over 60 in your mouse.
that kind of sucks, i spend 9 hours a day playing too, so i'd probably notice only having 60 fps. Ohwel it might still be worth it for lans, not having to pick up a crt is probablya nice thing.

Ok, i've read the how to on picking an lcd provided by anandtech and i still have a few questions. With CRT's i know the refresh rate is truely limiting to the fps, lets say if you have 80khz refresh rate on CRT that means you are only really seeing 80fps. Every lcd i've seen doesn't have 100khz...

My stock voltage on vdimm was indeed 2.60 i did though boost it to 2.72. i tried 2.90 but it gave me a memeory at at stock speeds before windows booted. The memory is good though i've ran memtest for 28 hours with no errors.
Well, i completed the 32m superpi in 30m 20sec. It wouldn't go past test 11 first 2 times i tried it so i bumped up the voltage to 1.552 and it pasted it. The strangest thing is now when i boot my monitor losses power for a second, so i think im going to back down some and lower the volts...
yeah im fine with my 2.5ghz, i've only prime tested it for an hour, and looped 3dmark for another hour... i'll have to see if it's truely stable or not, but my guess is it's probably not haha.
I'm wondering if i ran my ram at DDR550 2.5-4-4-8 instead of ddr 400 2-2-2-5 if i could run it with out the divider. I have to run my processor at 1.52 volts to stay prime stable, so i think i've hit my limit. I dont know if running ddr550 with no divider would hurt performance or if running...
K i've tried everything i can think of aside from upping voltage but i still get an error in prime95 in under 10 minutes.
Tried: lowering htt to x3, tried lowering multi to x9 and 255fsb instead of x10 230fsb.
I'm out of ideas, and i don't know where exactly the vcore voltage is located...

I can't seem to pass 230fsb. I get a error in prime at 235fsb in 5-8 minutes. I tried lowering the ram divider all the way to 100, and it still gets the error. I'm thinking that this is when people start uping the volts to ram...
I just purchased a 3200 from Newegg.com. It's a 0503, and i've heard alot of people complaining about them not ocing as well as older ones. So, shortly ill give my 2 cents about this with my experiences with a 0503.

Well i'm in the process of trying to make a custom fan grill for my super lan boy case. I saw the orac case and how the guy got hsi acrylic chromed, i'm just wonder how this is done as i work for a chrome shop and we have no clue how to do it. It simpley would just melt. Ideas?
