Asus A8N SLI Deluxe and Maxtor Diamondmax10 - ASUS Reply

You can say that again. I previously had the Asus board but made the switch to the DFI about a month and a half ago. It is so much more fun and productive to overclock than the Asus. I occasionally come back to this forum to read about the frustration I don't have to put up with any more. I...

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition: Drivers, Free Trials, and Availability

And here I did the upgrade thinking I would get it faster than waiting for OEM's to show up in retail. I think I'm going to try and cancel my upgrade now and just buy an OEM copy.

Calling all DFI LP NF4 SLi-DR Owners to share there experience before i buy it

    1. Setup went totally smoothly for me. The only problems I have had have been related to my overzealous overclocking attempts 2. My motherboard was not damaged in any way shape or form. 3. I don't know about the warranty...the mods at DFI street forums are DFI employees and should be...

    1007.04 Asus A8n Sli-Deluxe Bios

If your system is stable with your current BIOS and works fine, then there really is no reason to update the BIOS since you don't overclock. There is really nothing for you to gain.

WHAT IS THIS COMPONENT ON MY MOBO???

That component looks like a polyswitch. It's basically a solid state, resettable fuse that's meant to protect other components and cicuits from damage. If too much voltage and/or current is applied, the component increases it's internal resistance to cut off power from the rest of the board...

Bad video card? Or bad MB? on A8N-SLI

Try the middle slot, #2. That's where mine is and it's not sharing IRQ's. Also try disabling PEG Link Mode in the system BIOS.

Probably the Nvidia IDE drivers. Uninstall them, reverting back to the default Windows IDE drivers and don't be surprised if your problem goes away.

    nVidia SLI

Thanks billwinkle! I don't like to boast, but this system is pretty awesome and gaming with quality settings maxed is a lot of fun. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the overclock. When I bought this board back in mid-December when the first batches hit the market, the 1T bug and modest...

    nVidia SLI

Someone should probably start a new post if we are going to continue this, instead of futher hijacking this guy's post. I've checked for stability every step of the way in 5 MHz FSB increments all the way from the default 200 MHz and at various RAM timtings. Loosening timings to go higher than...

    nVidia SLI

My CPU is not a very good overclocker. It starts getting unstable at default voltage at 2.4 GHz and I really have to pump the voltage up to get any stability above that. Aside from that I have to loosen my RAM timings quite a bit to run above 235 FSB which kills my memory bandwidth. I've done...

    Asus A8N-SLI and getting 4x512MB or 2x1GB?

That's a tough one to call. The four module issue is a limitation of the memory controller built onto the Athlon 64 itself, it's not just with this board, the same would apply to any Athlon 64 platform. This is supposed to be fixed with the next revision of the A64 CPU's. As to the Geil RAM...

    *** Official ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe (nForce4) Thread ***

Snatz, this happens most of the time when you use driver cleaner to remove the chipset drivers. The system can't boot if they are completely deleted. You may be able to to repair your xp install but will most likely have to do a clean install.

Will NEVER buy another ASUS PRODUCT!!!

Was the "clear CMOS" jumper shorted? That has been known to cause boards to catch fire if they are switched on when it is shorted. That is why they always tell you to pull the power plug before clearing CMOS to ensure there is no way the system can be switched on during the process.

    *** Official ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe (nForce4) Thread ***

This is the third time I have seen this issue from people with supposedly matched sets of OCZ RAM and in the other cases it has turned out that the SPD timings for both modules do not match. You can check this by booting into Windows with one module at a time, using CPU-Z to show what the SPD...

I've no complaints with mine so far. They're nice looking cards and perform I'm sure at least as well as any others. Edit to add: Crazy timing on your post. Just after reading it, I stumbled on this review of the card, showing results in single and SLI modes and comparing results to...

    Upgrading the parents

For this type of system, it's hard to beat the Abit KV7 combined with a Sempron 2500+ or so, and 512MB Corsair VS. I've built several systems for people using this combo and was surprised at how "snappy" they ran.

    Monitor connection to Gigabyto mobo????

For that price, you should be able to find a 6800GT. If you are not into heavy gaming, you will probably be happy with a 6600GT which will be a lot cheaper solution.

    Monitor connection to Gigabyto mobo????

Uhh, I take it you have only built systems previously (if at all) with onboard video. These are generally low-end cheap solutions. The board you have is not one of these. It requires a video card of the PCI Express variety in order to output a video signal.

    Psu for A8N-SLI

This has already been said multiple times in this thread but I'll add my 2 cents just because I feel this can't be emphasized enough. AVOID THESE CHEAP POWER SUPPLIES LIKE THE PLAGUE! Don't build such a nice system and then compromise it's stability and possibly even the life of the components...

71.84 WHQL does not fix SLI Widescreen DVI issue

    A8N-SLI Premium

It's really too early to say. The only info out about it right now is marketing hype from Asus so we'll have to wait and see how it shapes up once it hits the market. It'll also depend on what kind of magic Asus is able to work with BIOS updates for the Deluxe as to whether or not it'll be...

Who has an SLI system working with LCD monitor?

DVI does work with SLI. I think Guitar Daddy misunderstood something in what he read. DVI widescreens are known to have problems, maybe he mistook this or did not notice the widescreen part, I don't know. Anyway, I can verify from experience that DVI LCD monitors do work fine with SLI. And...

Who has an SLI system working with LCD monitor?

There are problems reported with using SLI and widescreen monitors that have yet to be fixed, so any widescreen is to be avoided at this point. Other than that, any good LCD will do. Here is a link to a great deal on a 20" in the H forums: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=878095...
