prime95 - one core hangs and runs slow

i didnt have much of anything running... and even so, i thought it was supposed to average the background programs over the two cores randomly (ie. evenly) if the cores was a minute or two apart i would chalk it up to that... but its literally going half as fast... over 2 hours one core...

Odd OC problem -- Not for noobs

Odd OC problem -- Not for noobs

i had a similar problem where i had a powersupply fail on me and my OC was no longer stable. i couldnt go much above the stock FSB without having issues, luckily the board still ran stable at stock settings so i just kept it at stock, but definitely lost its ability to OC...

cant seem to get a stable oc

alright i figure i should reply with what i beleive to be the cause of all my problems. the horrible ATI win7 x64 drivers (specifically the Catalyst Control Center i think)... i finally used the BlueScreenViewer program to check out all the minidumps generated when my comp was crashing...

Two burners - on same or separate IDE channels?

You won't be able to burn with them both with them on master and slave (simultaniously). Definitely have to be two seperate channels, and even that is going to be iffy because of the demand it puts on the computer.

Why I think the AMD choice wins for some (if not most)...

I am going 939 strictly because I already have every other compatible component and the investment for me is $160 to my door for a dual core. I am still running my old 3500 winchester into the ground here in desperate need for dual core. I think there are many people in a similar situation...

Best Performance/Price in Years

I'm gonna upgrade with the AMD price cuts, ive been dying for dual core, and for $160 you really can't go wrong because I can just drop it right into my existing setup without any other hardware changes. I just hope I don't have a problem locating the processor at the price I want.

I know MEMTEST is pretty much the end all for testing ram for errors and stability. However, it requires you to boot off the disc and run it without an operating system for extended period of time (8+ hours). I need to have my computer on to do mundane things like check email, IM's...

CRT vs LCD

I still have my 22" Trinitron CRT - the "best" one made if anyone still knows about CRTs... so I still have the image quality advantage on ALL LCD's, and it really doesn't bother my eyes at all. That being said, I think LCDs have made enough progress recently to warrant me getting a high end...

The reason I turned it off is because the game starts to use it after like 15 minutes of playing. If you've ever played a game where most of the data is being paged in and out you will know how crappy and unplayable it is.
