Best Gamepad controller?

Just to throw in another opinion, I've always loved Thrustmaster gamepads (although they're a bit tricky to find). I mostly use a Thrustmaster Dual Trigger these days, and I used a Firestorm Dual Analog in the past.

MicroATX Case - Quiet and 2x5.25 bays - recommendations?

That Define Mini looks amazing - when/where is it available? Also, I did check Newegg and noticed the <$50 ones that looked OK, but I didn't really want to cheap out on this. It would be nice for it to be quiet as possible. Does anyone have experience with HEC cases such as this one...

MicroATX Case - Quiet and 2x5.25 bays - recommendations?

I hadn't really considered that one so I appreciate the responses. It looks like the 5.25 bays in this case don't have much room in front of the PSU. Has anyone used this case and can recommened a specific model for the DVD-RW drives so that they will fit comfortably? Thanks

Recommend a good, SECURE online backup service?

Give CrashPlan a try - I love it. It has encryption option, 10GB or unlimited online plans, and can target two different backup locations (i.e. online as well as local, external drive, network, even another networked computer). I had an IT pro recommend it to me, and haven't looked back.

Business computer, build my own or pre-built(Dell)?

Check out CrashPlan for online backup. It has the added ability to back up to both online (for $$$ obviously) and local targets (USB, network, local HDD). The local backup is nice for fast recoveries, whereas the online gives you off-site.

I'm loving CrashPlan. They have an unlimited version for $60/year (EDIT: just checked and prices are even lower now). You select what folders to backup, it sync's them online with versioning. You can grab your files from "anywhere" through their web portal, or locally using their utility...

Upon start the Fan turns for 0.0026 sec and Stops, System Won't Turn On - Old System

PC co-op reccomendations

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 indeed... costs like $10 on Steam and you can jump back/forth between co-op and SP through the campaign mode seamlessly. Also Terrorist Hunt mode where it's you and friend against a level full of enemies.

Agreed there is a learning curve here that has yet to be mastered :) However, this approach has its advantages too, like the ability to rotate a player at crazy fast speeds for an indefinite period without your arm falling off, or being able to simultaneously control two players and a goalie...

Now that EA's discontinued the MVP series for the PC, does anyone know of any baseball games that will be released for the upcoming season? I have MVP 2004 right now, would I be better off buying 2005 and trying to find a roster update somewhere? Anyone know any good sites with roster updates...

PLEASE HELP locating driver

Well, assuming that IS the motherboard, I'm sure these would be the ones you need. However, I'm assuming these are the ones you tried. Have you tried re-installing DirectX or running dxdiag to see if there's any issues in there?

How much can my PSU really handle ?

Your PSU is probably holding up OK if you're experiencing no stability issues or other "wierdness." However, I should also mention that my old SmartPower 350w out of my SLK2650 worked for a year before giving me major instability issues resulting from 3 burned-out 3.3v pins on the main mobo ATX...

Cable Management?

I would say that wire management of any kind is the hard part in smaller mid-towers. I did the best I could with a $10 kit from Home Depot. Air flow is pretty good and since there's no case window in my Antec, I'm happy :)

Overclocking a socket 754 3400+ NC

After a cold boot, reboot and check your temps again. I find my NF3 250GB motherboard consistently reports lower (and more accurate) temps after a warm boot. Your temps may actually be lower than what you say in your post.

Catalyst Control Center

I can do everything with the CCC that I could do with the old Control Panel. The preview window is about the only difference I can see, as well as the Catalyst AI settings.

Is single-channel and 2T for A64 really that bad?

Well, my s754 mobo and Kingston ValueRAM force me into the single-channel and 2T scenario. While my machine is not necessarily using the most high-end parts today, I've been quite happy with how it has performed in the games that I play.

SATA vs. IDE Enclosure

Take a second to look at the Vantec NexStar3 eSATA enclosure as reviewed here. It comes with a PCI bracket which can internally connect to a mobo SATA connector. Then, using SATA's "hot-pluggable" nature, you can plug the enclosure into this PCI bracket to achieve near normal SATA transfer rates...

Athlon 64 3000+ temps too high?

I'm not sure which motherboard you have, but if it's an NF3 s754 board, you probably have issues with the temperature sensor reading incorrectly. On cold boots, my temps can be 5-7 degrees higher than after a reboot from Windows. It's odd, but no bios update yet has fixed it with my K8N Neo...

Good PSU

I bought a new PSU a month ago (dual 12v rail Antec below) and am quite pleased with it. In my research, I looked at many models. If I remember correctly, the OCZ Powerstream series are single 12v rail units that got many great reviews.

RAM for my DELL Precision 450
