Will an extra gig of ram improve prfmc?

Arc... If I am understanding you correctly, 2x512 qould be 4 banks and if I purchase a set of 2x256 (provided they were single sided), I would not lose any performance (all 6 banks would be used).

The POE team has done a very good job on this mod. I really enjoy it. Best mod since DC. IKE, why 2x1g instead of 2x512mb?

Will an extra gig of ram improve prfmc?

My current sys (MSIK8nSLi + AMD643200winni + 1gigDCpc3200 + Ledtek6800THD + 80gig Seagate cuda). I was thinking about adding another gig (for a ttl of 2gig). Will I get any better prfmc by adding the additional ram?

Acceptable temps?

What are the acceptable temp (c/f) threshholds for a AMD64/3200+ - MSIK8NSLI - 1gpc3200 - Ledtek6800THD. I am looking for both CPU and System temps. And what would be acceptable during gaming and non gaming loads.

Ping problems...

Is there anything within the computer itself (excluding the connection to the internet) that can effect ping rate? If not, what would cause a cable connection that usually pinged very low, to the next day ping higher? Could it be as simple as rebooting the cable modem, or could the cable company...

Ping problems...

It would seem that the freezes have been due to heat build up. I did place the Swap File on a D partition on my HD and XP/POE on the C partition. Additionally, I have been playing with the side and top cover off and an out side fan blowing addtional cool air into the sys. Since taking these two...

Loop2kil I dont use a sound card, just the built in sound. Amaroque When I go out and check the monitoring program, all of the temps seem to be within the specs. Can these mon., progs be trusted?

UPDATE: As I am playing POE, it does not seem to do it right away. It seems to happen after I have played the game for a while, and then after the first time, it is not long before it happens again. Strange...

I play Point of Existence (a Battlefield Vetnm. mod). I get a freeze now and again (few seconds and then everything goes back to normal). The freeze usually happens in the heat of battle (a lot of activity). It is not a connection warning lad, or a lag you get with an underpowered sys. The games...

If I dont have two drives, would repartioning my drive, and installing windows/POE on the c partition, the swap file on the d partition solve the problem?

Cleared the add and spyare, bumped the swap file to 1500 min/max still had freeze and go. I did not make any changes to the bios, not sure what to make (I have a Asus A8Nsli, maybe you could tell me what I should change in terms of the fast disk write etc.).

Once and a while the game will freeze for a few moments, and then go back to normal. The game runs smooth. Could this be that it was waiting for data? Generally, when it has happened, I have not received a connection warning. New sys... all stngs on high, but no lag whatsoever...

I just added an additional 512 DC ram to my rig (new ttl 1g of DC pc3200). Before I added the extra ram, my 3Dmark05 was 4757 (Asus A8Nsli/3200+winni/512DCpc3200/Leadtek6800thd256-cor456-mem863/older seagate80g7200sata). Having added the extra 512, my 3Dmark05 only went up to 4758 :-( I had...

Thanks for the reply, it turns out that I had done everything right, except remembering to switch my KVM switch back after using my other sys :-). I guess mistakes happen... Thank you for your reply, and sorry for the alarm. Just glad that things seem to be working...

Asus A8N sli Memory prob...

I have just built a new sys based on the Asus A8Nsli. I am having a prob. When I have just 512 (2x256) everything boot fine etc. When I put the other 512 (2x256) the sys seems to be booting but the monitor does not receive signal. Thought it might have been the older ram. Ordered a new set of DC...

What is the comparison for the new mac mini speedwise compared to a PC?

As has been said before, Mac hardware and software are optimized for certain tasks (publishing - video - audio). With the velocity engine architecture, they accomplish these tasks very well. As a gaming platform :-( I do the above mentioned tasks on my Macs, and game on my PC. So the question...

Asus A8NSLI performance question

I have just upgraded from a P4P800/2.4c sys to an A8NSLI/3200winch + 512DC + Leadtek 6800thd/256 + Seagate 80g/7200/sata. It seems like the HD is not performing as well as it did in the P4P sys. Are there any configurations that need to be changed in the MoBo to make the HD perform optimally?

Asus A8N SLI Current Bios

Just finishing up my new system, wanted to get the latest bios. When I use the windows Asus Update, I find a 103.xxxxbeta, but the text describing it is in german. Does this matter and what is the latest bios? Is this beta it? Is it a good bio?
