    Oil markets are oversupplied

Oil is a commodity subject to market forces. It has a high price because people will buy it at that price. Probably, insecurity and speculation has a large part in determining it. Anyone with a brain can figure this out and profit from it if they chose. That's the power of a free market economy.

    *OFFICIAL* CANADIAN ELECTION THREAD

yah it's in the national anthem... Stop being a negative, do you think we should boo our troops in Afghanistan? Or that alienation of provinces (Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia) is an acceptable platform for a national party? I think a lot of positive will result from this...

    *OFFICIAL* CANADIAN ELECTION THREAD

The facts speak against him. He may have been part of "balancing" a budget, but as far as a leader, all he managed was a minority government which dithered, and tried to bribe everyone with their own money. As a PM Paul Martin failed and as such he is leaving the leadership position of the...

    *OFFICIAL* CANADIAN ELECTION THREAD

Looks like Canada has a future! Congrats to the Conservatives for running the campaign they did. Let's hope the defeated Liberals work with the new government. From what I've seen so far, the NDP seem to be making that promise.

    Canadian Election Poll

Are you serious!? Harper was the only one who talked strategy and policy this whole campaign. Layton feels money will answer lifes problems and Martin is deluded into thinking we're some 60's era love fest where he can campaign on feeling based politics. CBC is rerunning the three leaders...

    Canadian Election: Leader's Debate Today!!

I wish my French was better. It appears all the fun was going on in that debate tonight. The fact that Duceppe has suddenly leaped out in attack against Harper shows the reality of the Conservatives picking up speed for the election. As expected only Duceppe was master of the debate speaking...

Why is the Holocaust so "special"?

All the other atrocities mentioned in this thread were genocide as well. What stands the Holocaust apart was that it was the creation of death as an industry. An entire population of Jews, gypsies, "enemies of the Reich" were sent to their deaths as if they were cattle. To implement the...

Canadians, any good political debate forums?

Gotta wonder how Harper or Layton survived the French one :) I agree, it didn't really change my mind... I felt Harper could have done better and been more aggressive, but he has to shed his "evil" image... Layton was a used car salesman always ending his response with "Vote NDP, we'll get it...

    Christians. Are they being misled?

Typically, a culture embraces its history and traditions taking pride in the past and using that as a solid platform with which to greet the future. Why America is so caught up in "political correctness" and stripping all of its tradition out of its holdays is bizarre. Can't those who feel...

Canadians, any good political debate forums?

Why anyone believes the whole "Harper is scary" garbage is beyond me. What scares me is the way the Liberals pretend to be the protectors of everything Canadian. "Don't think, we know what's best... for health care, child care..." What astounds me is that you can have a gaffe like the one...

The Economist: A survey of Canada

I agree with Sandorski... long read. But, I'll put in my two cents. Coming from Alberta, I can attest that most people scoff at the $400 per person cheque, however they still all plan on spending it on wining dining and gifts. Basically the Gov. is giving a direct infuse of 1.2 billion into...

Should two men be allowed to adopt?

Why is this questioned? That's most certainly what did/does happen and there of stories of it going the other way. A couple months ago I watched a documentary termed "i love you Hags." It delved into the murky waters of gay men and the relationships they have with women. They had a whole range of...

    The lunacy of organized religion

Just a quick clarification here, you would never be able to create a human with only two XX chromosomes or two YY chromosomes. You'd be missing the other 44. A human with two YY chromosomes would never survive. But ~ half of our population have the XX genotype, they are the women in our life...

    The lunacy of organized religion

Miracles exist, but to write them off as being unexplainable is not congruent to formative thought. All Christians attempt to explain and rationalize the miracle of Christ's resurrection.
