Thanks for the stats, I'm actually surprised I'm doing this well, crunching both Rosetta and Seti on a single computer used frequently by the household and loaded with a bunch of teenage and wifey stuff. :)

I just moved into my new place and all my comps are suffering from sudden temp spikes. I have monitoring utilities on them with alarms if they go above temps I set, and generally they run about 7-10 C under that limit. Every now and then though I get suddn temp rises that set off the allarms...

Help the Linux Newbie

Well the router I'm using now is a Motorolla WR850G. Do you think that will be good enough for firewall type protection? Basically I was just looking for some decent freeware AV for Linux systems in case I contract one while playing aroung on the net with it.

Can I install Win Xp if I don't have a CD-ROM ?

You don't want to disable it. It's there by default in case you're online and some virus/spyware/malware tries to run a program in the background to invade your 'puter. If you disable it and you get attacked by a self running virus/ spyware app that isn't caught by your firewall or AV protection...

In preparation for shutting down SETI@home Classic (in about 1 month, hopefully)...

WU processing time getting a tad longer now...

I don't know about you guys, but mine seem to go a little faster lately. As long as I stay off the PC and just let it crunch I seem to get more done than it used to. Of course like everyone was saying, maybe I'm just getting a bunch af better angles.
