HDD's are only good for sequential acces, meaning big files like movies and music. Put all apps on the SSD.
And don't worry about wearing out your SSD.
We can use energy to power lamps to grow plants, and replenish our oxigen and food supply that way. Actually i think this would not be so difficult. Humans humans require very little oxigen. Almost all oxigen in the world is consumed by smaller animals, many which are not essential to human...
I have 2 accespoints: one Linksys and one Linux server with a wireless card.
Same SSID, different channel, WPA2 encryption. No other configuration needed. Works like a charm.
You could write a book about this problem. In short:
What should be happening:
- 192.168.1.1 is the internal ip-adress of your router. It is a local ip-adress and it should be the internet gateway for all your computers.
- 72.x.x.x is a public ip-adress which is a router of your internet...
According to this
(http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/24609-linksyswrt54gwireless?showall=&start=5)
The thougput of a WRT54G is 20Mbps.
So if your internet subscription is faster you'll likely benefit from an upgrade.
You could speedtest.net your connection now...
I'd start by finding out what DNS server they use at the office. Then empty the cache of said server and check the config. Perhaps ask their sysadmin for help (unless that's you)?
Actually it is possible to transmit data faster than the speed of light (without bending space).
Imagine a pipe inside another pipe. now you give the inner pipe a push on one end. Assuming that the material is completely solid, the other end will recieve the push instantanious. The data is...
There is no reason to worry because
1) those chips can handle 70C, thottling will kick in however to prevent the temperature from rising further
2) if they get too hot (75C or so not sure exactly) they shut down before it gets dangerous
3) 5 minutes doesnt matter at all some people run...

Can you recommend me a good 500W PSU available in europe? 500W should allow enough room for upgrading to a highend graphics card, more RAM and another harddisk sometime in the future. We wont need radiators in this house next winter!
Uhm i ended up at an amazing 390W. I think I can toss out this $20 350W OEM PSU.
Oh yeah and add a 25W water pump too
My parents ain't gonna like the power bill thats for sure.
40 minutes - thats the time it took before the screen froze during the superpi+prime95 testing. Strangely no errors. All prime95 tests reported completed succesfully.
By the time it froze the CPU was in heavy throttling for some time thougy - I'd say 15% of the clockcycles skipped on average...
After running prime95 for another half hour during I posted the system stalled. I guess that makes my post obsolete since the problem doesn't happen at 3.7GHz. I'm going to sleep now (im in europe) and leave prime95 running while at a 3.7GHz.
Next week I'll have Asetek watercooling. Could...
I have some trouble playing games when the computered is OC'ed. After a few minutes DirectDraw-, Direct3D- and AGP-surface-acceleration shut down. This caused the game to crash. I can still enter windows and close down the program. Prime95 reports no errors after an hour of testing.
The...
yeah and next time you're gonna compare the celeron D to the fx-57 right?
BTW I'm an Intel fan and do agree that the Pentium D offers better value. Mobo and memory prices of both platforms are equal now (yes they are! look it up!).
edit: markfw beat me
ok i decided to talk to the...
Guys, you are overseeing one thing: one of the most important goals of BTX is to decrease the size of your case by placing al the parts closer together with by a more efficient layout. The new BTX board are/will be smaller than ATX. I think this is a good thing. BTX also reduces cable clutter in...
