The P4 3.0E is made to take 75C according to Intel. My major issue is that my 3.0E's CPU fan keeps blowing @ 5300RPM after playing a heavy game, even if the temp has gone down to 48C and the case temp is cool too! I hate that!!! It sounds like I have a small car in my living room!!!
Also, there is a mobo from ASRock that features both Socket T and Socket 478.

Apparently, Intel cpus with more than 3.4GHz will not be available for socket 478. Tell her to go with Socket T.
Mpeg is a digital audio/video format. DVDs movies are Mpegs. MCE-200 does support mpeg 1/2 encoding. Since it is hardware MPEG encoding, you can use it with Media Center Edition 2005. I do.
