Ok, so I got rid of my old computer...which wasn't too old...for a new rig. And before I buy all the hardware, I wanted to know if all the components were compatible with each other. I've been talking to a guy from work, and he says some of the parts have a history of having compatibility...

Mp3s sound bad on my Zen Micro

Thanks guys. I decided to test things out. So I decided on three songs on my Mp3 player that had the most "clicks" in them, and I re-ripped those songs at 192kbps, with a new program I just downloaded called 'CDex'. Then I copied the three songs over and listened to them with the volume...

Mp3s sound bad on my Zen Micro

Ok, so I just got a Creative Zen Micro Mp3 player and once I transferred all my music to it, I noticed that almost all of my songs have clicks in them...it almost seems like the speakers are blown. I mainly hear it in the left channel, so I thought it might be my headphones, so I returned them...

AMD Files Antitrust Complaint Against Intel in U.S. Federal District Court

This just goes to show that the only way AMD can beat Intel is to go cry to a judge and try and get Intel in trouble. One more reason why I hate AMD.

Help me build an EXTREME machine!

I agree with Stevty...I just looked over all your parts, and wow...that was a lot of crap! First off, the only thing extreme about the Intel P4EE is the price...nothing more. The Ram is lousy...why not go with Corsair's XMS (eXtreme Memory Speed) RAM? It has flashy little LEDs on the top...

Well...since the price of this "EXTREME" computer is already going to hit $4000...why not take the plunge in to phase change cooling...since it is considered "EXTREME" cooling. While your still at it, take that crappy case to an auto shop and get a custom, "EXTREME", automotive quallity...

Just a Newb question

A legacy port is an "outdated" port...like your com serial and perallel ports (joystick and printer ports). Most of the stuff today uses USB 2.0 or Firewire. If you want to disable them...do so.

Poll: Does "the perfect rig" really need SLI?

This poll is just to see how many of us think that SLI is manditory in what *you* consider "the perfect rig". To me, a "perfect rig" is more like "The ultimate gamming pc of all time" and costs around $3000.00 to $4000.00. Soooo...have t it. :)

A stick of PC3500 RAM in a PC3200 slot?

Ok. So the new DDR 433 RAM my neighbor wants to sell me won't work in my mobo. Now two more questions...and then I'll be done. :) Sould I get Registered RAM or Unbuffered...and should it be ECC or non-ECC? What's the difference in performance between the choices of the 2?

A stick of PC3500 RAM in a PC3200 slot?

So I heard that if you put a stick of DDR433 (PC3500) RAM in a slot meant for DDR400 (PC3200), it would overclock better, and be more stable than a stick of DDR400 RAM in a DDR400 slot. Would a stick of DDR433 or a stick of DDR500 even work in a slot meant for DDR400?

Using Two monitors with one computer...for different apps.

2 Loop Water Cooling system.

So a friend of mine suggested that I try a "2 loop" water cooling system if I'm going to atempt a highly overclocked rig. Basicly there would be a dedicated pump and radiator with a common resivior just for the CPU, and then the other two blocks, and maybe a HDD cooler would have their own...

So ATI finallly released the video card that I've been waiting for, so I droped the $$$ to get it...but the Danger Den Maze 4 VGA block I already have doesn't fit on it. :| Does anyone know of any VGA water blocks that will fit on the ATI All-In-Wonder X800XT video card?

SATA or IDE to USB bridge...

Cool...I knew they existed! But i forgot to mention that I prefer to have a SATA to USB converter. But I guess I can spend some extra money to get the SATA to IDE bridge board, and then hook the IDE to USB cable up to the bridge board. I wonder if that setup would mess anything up...:confused:

Help with cable sizes...

Hmmm....I didn't think of using an enclosure and convert them to USB. That would actually help me out since all the cables for all the drives must fit through a 3.5" tube before entering the mobo section of the "case"...wich is turing out to be more of a piece of art. I'll have to cut up some...

My brand new 160GB SATA drive only shows 131GB!

Install SP2 at your own risk. I was so excited to fianally be able to get SP2, that I installed it as soon as I got it...but then most of my favorite games wouldn't work...aside from all the other crap SP2 screwed up.

TV tuner cards

For USB TV units, I think the Leadtek USB TV/FM "WinFast" unit is the best. I'm planning on buying for my laptop, and I've done a lot of research on it.

If you already have a video card, then the ATI TV Wonder Elite is the card I would get. It has all the software, cables, and everything else you would ever need...like the RF remote. If you don't have a video card yet, or want an upgrade, the ATI A-I-W 9800Pro is a great card.

My Dell laptop has a Hitachi HDD, and I know EXACTLY what amdhunter is talking about...unfourtunatly for me, I can't do anything about it since there is no way to sound-proof a laptop. I don't know why it makes that sound, or what the HDD is doing when it does...I just know it buggs the hell out...

24 pin PSU vs 20 pin

From what I've been told by my computer tech friend, if you buy a 20pin to 24pin connector, you should be fine. Tt makes one, as do a growing number of companys. Hope that helps.
