eVGA now has a 2 year warranty.

Cool, I'm in. I just hope if I have a problem that they can't tell I unlocked the pipes. Is there any way of knowing?

    Dell 1905FP

I've had the screen for a week now, and I have noticed it. But now, as time goes on I've been growing used to it. If you are really picky about how quickly the image moves across the screen, I'd stay with the CRT. I've been getting used to the sharpness of the text with this screen. It's...

Setting up an LCD for optimal gaming performance

Hey guys, brand-n00bian here. I'm trying to get the most out of my Dell 1905fp and my eVGA 6800nu combo. I've been hearing how some people have to do all this tweaking to make their screens look right. I know that can be a matter of taste, but there ought to be somethings that should be...

Anyone Tested Whether Unlocking Pipes/Shaders Really Does Anything?

Just like James said, it's a nice little bonus. When I unlocked my eVGA 6800NU, I went from 34.9fps to 40.1fps in Doom 3 Timedemo. In Half-Life 2, I went from 61.23fps to 69.98fps. So it does make a difference. The card is already quite powerful, especially where DX9 is concerned. Now, my...

whats with the mac version of the nvidia 6800?

Did you guys notice that this video card doesn't use the Molex power adapters like the PC version does? So it must be doing it's own power regulating. (That's my big engineering talk.)

    **Video Card Drivers**

I noticed too in CS:Source, the Aztec level now has muddy water instead of clear water. It looks kind of cool, but then again, ehhh... BTW, if you play CS:Source, does the ground near the water look overly shiny or is it my system? I'm sure they aren't artifacts. It just looks like the...

9600 is a piss poor card?

Here is my progression: I had the ti4200 AGP 8x. It is a great card. Served me well for about a year. I then wanted to play around with DX9 games (Doom3) and video recording/PVR, so I went with the AIW 9600XT. Not only did I get more functionality, but better performance. So I enjoyed...

    Whick LCD

I would go with the Viewsonic. I heard that the Benq is slightly cheap in manufacturing. So the silver coloring is easily scratched. Plus viewsonic I think has a longer warranty. The size doesn't matter. 17" is plenty I think. Remember, most 19" CRT's only have 18" viewable.

    So whats next for Nvidia???

I think there were some concerns that a whole new era of graphics cards would need to be made for Doom 3, and other games using that engine. But it seems to me now with the way the drivers are being written, and the capacity of the current GPU/RAM over PCIE or SLI, that we are probably seeing...

    So whats next for Nvidia???

Wait, so you're saying that NVidia are making the video chipset for Playstation 3? Boy, this will get interesting considering Microsoft chose ATI for the Xbox:NeXt.

    Post your 3DMARK05 SCORES.

I'm running a eVGA 6800NU, with stock 325/700, but open pipes 16x1 and open shaders 6x1, I get 3968. Running Forceware 71.24 My rig consists of: AMD XP3000+ (333mhz) 1024 Meg OCZ Value RAM Asus AVN8X-Deluxe 2.0 mobo It's pretty nice, with the old forceware 66.whatever, I was getting...

    Interesting Note on NV Silencers...

Would it be possible for you to take some pics of your lapping work and show us what you did to get the best cooling performance? Chances are, most people just snap their new cooler on and are satisfied with a couple of degrees difference. I'm considering this upgrade to make my 6800 go all...

Looking at getting new video card any recomendations?

The 6600 GT is probably the best deal for the money. The 9700 pro is a little old in my opinion. As for pipes, the 6600 GT has 8 pipes and they are all open. The only two big difference between 6600 GT and 6800 GT is 128-bit versus 256-bit and also 8 pipes versus 16 pipes respectively.

what the hell do these mean now?

I think it depends on the game that you are playing. In the second half of year '04, the DX9 games are using more of the newer FX and GeForce 6, and ATI x series video instructions. If you are playing a flight sim like from MS, I would think it would be using DX8 or even DX7. So the GeForce 4...

    Choices, choices...

Sorry, kinda new to posting here. I guess "PCI-E" is the more PC term around here. I'll work on dotting my i's and crossing my t's... Anyway, I hear makoto wants something that can get him by with playing one or two games without the big sacrafice. To me, buying my 6800 AGP for $240 was a...

Why do some games ghost worse than others?

You know the interesting thing is, I was playing Counter Strike which has a lot of contrasts, and I didn't seem much blurring there. It seemed like, when I was looking at one of the 3D characters, like the video card processing the monitor through the DVI was lagging. Is there any way to tweak...

    Choices, choices...

I would just go with the most afforable PCI-X card you are willing to spend on. Doesn't have to be 256mb card, or top of the line ATI/Nvidia. Just get something that your system supports that you feel comfortable spending the money on. Chances are you won't suffer with the performance...

    BFG 6800OC w/rivatuner

My guess is, you aren't too lucky with that card. However, I've heard of people that we able to unlock the vertex shader and still overclock without artifacts. So, keep tweaking until you find the perfect balance. Remember to do small increments of core/memory speed, or you might regret it.

6800 gt, what make should I get?

I picked up an eVGA 6800 (NU) that was on sale at Micro Center. I'm really happy with it, and I was able to unlock pipes, and vertex shaders with riva tuner. I've heard of people raising their core/memory speed up like 40/100 respectively. If you do all that though, I highly suggest you spend...

Why do some games ghost worse than others?

So I jumped into the LCD world, and ordered the Dell 1905fp. I was counting the days until this bad boy was delivered. I even went out and bought a GeForce 6800 so I could have a DVI for my video. I replaced an ATI AIW 9600XT which worked pretty well, but not as well as this baby. Anyway, I...
