XFX 7800GT Fan Not Needed?

Yeah, I'm not planning on removing the HSF, but I want to know if this thing is actually supposed to only run as it heats up or if mine is the only one acting like this. Its the newer version of the card with the black heat sink and the light up panel on the side that glows xfx in green.

New to Overclocking

Unable to Renew IP address

The network port is on the motherboard itself. I cannot really remove it without wire snips and a soldering iron. I needed the two network ports, which is why i bought the mobo. I do some ocing and need the room below my cards for air flow and do not want to install a nic if I don't have to.

I swapped the cables out and same issue, unless anyone can give me a hint as to another cause, I guess I'll swap out the fdd and see if that changes anything. But still, the drive is a little over a year and a half old, so I wouldn't expect it to crap out on me yet.

Well it turns out that it was a bad disk. After replacing all the new hardware with stock hardware, and still getting the blue screen of death, I took my brothers copy of sp1 and attempted an install and it completed without incident.
