[Best non-Apple Laptop] Who are the candidates?

Been looking for a while. Have it narrowed down to the asus zenbook or dell xps15. 1300.00 vs 2200 trying to decide if that dell is worth 900.00 more.

No hogs like cad or Bleeding edge gaming. I social network, email ,play flash games in browser. Schoolwork. so have to use programs like office, ftp, editors for basic programming, multitask a lot. Run a virtual machine occasionally, got into writing batch files last quarter, take some classes...

the ideal work music player 4 me would be?

k thx will look thru these and try to decide if a blutooth speaker paired with an on the way out technology like mp3 players or a smartphone is my best bet. I have pretty much held out on cellphones so far. had a cheap one for a while, but I used it so little its stuck in a drawer somewhere.

"Random" crashes of IE8 and other browsers

I would suspect avg also. I bought a paid version of it and installed it and had constant problems....mostly with freezing up. I upgraded it to the latest version and it improved somewhat but still is problematic... worst AV I ever owned. Never again.

Computer doesn't show any video

if it worked in the other machine...that would leave your card slot as the problem. Or its config. although it was configured properly when it pooped out, so that one doesn't seem likely.

Computer won't boot past BIOS/Post Screen!

Power supply seems a little anemic..kinda suspect it. you could probably snag another for 30 bucks? if it were the HD seems like it would have told you , that It couldn't find an OS on post. You could try switching cables just for fun tho?

Just curious what your opinions are of microsoft essentials software vs windows Defender software. I ran Defender for a couple of years and thought it was a waste of disk space What areas and how do you feel essentials is better. Just curious , I have not tried essentials yet. thx

I see you have been to the hewlett packard forums as well:) What OS. Is there only one sata controller on that board? when you went f11 as I understand it, with that board it gives you an option to select system recovery. If you have no disks, can't get into windows, and the recovery partion...

Strange internet connection problem

If its just network congestion sometimes the provider can switch you to another line from their end. I use dsl and was having that problem last year they checked my line said it shouldn't be that bad. but we could switch and try it and the congestion cleared right up. Was just running on a...
