Ryobi does a great job of making replacement chargers, batteries, etc. relatively inexpensive and also readily available. For inexpensive tools, they're among the best, so I would just replace the charger. Pete

XP: "the file cannot be accessed by the system"

I have an external (USB) hard drive that I was using for backups on my home server (running Windows Home Server). I had to reinstall the server OS and now am receiving a "the file cannot be accessed by the system" error when trying to copy files from the external hard drive back to the server...

WD 150GB Raptor Sata HD 169.99 @ Microcenter

Picked mine up today after ordering online on Thursday. It's the 16MB cache non-windowed version. I'll probably Ghost my old 74GB drive to this tomorrow. Trying to figure out WTF is up with the super-lame SATA cable they pack with the drive, it's headed straight for the trash bin. Pete

OK, final issue, once I get this resolved I think I'll be all done. Now that I'm in AHCI mode, whenever I reboot, my optical drives (both SATA) and hard drives go through the "Found new hardware" routine. This is annoying, especially since I always change my optical drive letters to Y and Z...

I just got a P5B deluxe and (unfortunately) did a clean OS install with my Raptor on IDE mode. Switching over to IDE causes a bluescreen. If I uninstall the SMB, IDE, and SATA drivers, reboot, and switch to AHCI, will my system boot up properly and go through the install wizard for the SMB...

That was it, and, yes, making the change in the BIOS caused a bluescreen on boot. Luckily, switching back wasn't a problem. Is this something that can be avoided by removing the IDE/SATA drivers from my system and then rebooting with AHCI enabled? Or is it something beyond a driver issue...

Samsung SATA 18x DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive

I just upgraded all 3 of the desktop machines in my house with the Lite-On SATA DVD-RW drive. Nice, very quiet, and about 3/4" shorter than the NEC drives they replaced. My only beef is that it would be nice if it had a 4 pin molex power connector (it has SATA power). Pete

So, I just saw a bunch of Nforce 500 boards...

OK, show me a $40 x1 sound card. Or a $60 x4 software-based RAID controller. Until Dell and HPaq start building systems that are PCI-free, you won't see these items in any decent type of selection. Same goes for SATA optical drives. So, I would say the original poster has a valid point...

I bought one of these a month ago and it arrived all beat to ******. From the look of the packing materials, UPS dropped the thing on its side and the picture was bad. I'm sure it's a great TV for the money if you're lucky enough to have yours arrive intact, but don't throw away that packing...

You're talking apples and oranges. If you have case fans plugged "directly" into the PSU, it will be via the 4 pin Molex connectors, which do not have any RPM monitoring capability. PSU Fan RPM connector is going to monitor the RPM of the fan that is in the PSU itself, not the fans that...
