Owners of Biostar T-Force boards...

Anyone know if there is an option in BIOS (or elsewhere) to get rid of the T-Force splash screen and 'F1 to continue' question on the following boot screen? Having to press two buttons every time is a little much.

Ok... well I built a computer for my brother a couple of months ago, and for Christmas got him a dual core 3800+. Stock, overclocked, it doesn't matter - for some reason WoW keeps crashing on him. Same with CounterStrike sometimes. Any guesses as to what's up? MemTest and SuperPi both run...

Chaintech VNF4 Ultra - what's going on here?

Ok cutting to the chase, Chaintech VNF4 Ultra in my brothers computer, X2 3800, FSB shifted to 240 at stock, CPU runs great, but the memory seems unstable. So, try changing the memory divider, upping the memory voltage, etc... but system won't boot. What's the deal here? One would assume...

Vanderpool & Pacifica; what will they do for me?

Hmmm... good point. So I could run Linux or something and then just boot up Windows on a 'virtual' system to play games. Would it work that smoothly though? For some reason I see problems and hassles - but it is something I should have, but didn't, really think about before.

Well I have no doubt 65nm will be coming out on M2 and not 939 (maybe some Semprons though), but at the same time 65nm in and of itself isn't enough to make me jump up and down. I've got a 130nm chip right now and I don't see what I'm really missing for lack of 90nm, except maybe SSE3. Right...

Soviet those are my thoughts exactly, except I would actually expect A64 to stay ahead of the P-M derivatives in gaming, among other areas. The only reason I would want to switch up my socket to 939 or M2 at all would be to go dual-core, since I'm often encoding, burning, or whatever else. But...

Well, what I meant though is that you can use said Opterons on the 'desktop' 940 platform. Same registered memory, same everything. The boards don't support anything past the 100 or 200 series I think, but you can buy these Opterons off of Newegg if you want an upgrade/replacement chip.

I don't see Socket 1207 on the desktop either, but I *do* see it as being able to accomodate K10, if and when it comes out. And in that vein, I expect that Socket 1207 will use one of the newer RAM generations. As for price parity, I've read that DDR3 is expected to reach 65% market...

@Furen: Well, assuming we use DDR3 as the point of transition, estimates put 2007 as the time we'll see DDR-3 enter the marketplace. Now, assuming it performs at launch the way DDR-2 didn't, I think we'll see AMD as soon as possible come out with a chip that supports it, if only for the server...

I normally am someone who will advocate the path that yields the best price/performance ratio - but I have to say, I think that whatever money you would be spending on a heatsink would be much better spent on a new graphics card.

That 6600 AGP is 64-bit I believe, if it's the Chaintech. You better double-check it. I saw that same card over the weekend.

How far will AMD go with Socket 939?

Yeah you got it. Socket A will soon be a fond memory. I think Sempron 754 will make a great successor though. The performance and overclocking should be good - it'll just lack the 64-bit action of the Athlon. But then again, so did Athlon XP of course.

Price drop on geforce6600 gt

Easisest way to soft-mod the 6200 is by using RivaTuner - I'm actually considering the same thing for the AGP version. Any 6200 can do, as long as it's not the TC version. Do keep in mind though that there's no guarantee that the unlocked pipes will work however.

Antec Aria PSU question

Thanks for the heads up on that. Yeah I KNOW it can't be to actually power the fan, because the fan comes on just fine as it is. I just didn't want to plug it into something and have disaster ensue. I guess I'll just leave it be for now, and next time I install a component, maybe connect it then.

Antec Aria PSU question

I don't know if this is common on PSU's now or it's just I've never noticed it, but coming out of my Antec Aria's PSU is a blue/white, seemingly 2-pin fan header. What am I supposed to do with this? Is it meant to be plugged into the motherboard? Any ideas/knowledge greatly appreciated!
