i am cleaning up an old system (P3 1GHZ) and the heatsink was covered in dust, so i take it off and clean it, put it back on and now the bios is telling me the temps are around 55 degrees where as before they were around 42???
DO NOT BUY THIS CARD FOR GAMING! i have seen the fps for Doom3 and HL2 and they are like 20fps compared to 70-80 of the 6800 series. i think that was on thos site? make a search.
Alienware makes laptops with the 6800Go as well as some no-name brands i've seen on ebay.
Just pulled my card out and let it sit out for a day as i was awaiting a new one, it didn't come so i put it back into the case and the idle temps are 5 degrees lower?? strange. Any comments?
Swaping a 6800GT for a new 6800GT of the same manufacturer (freebee, im gonna sell my old one). When swapping these do i have to make any bios changes and such?
WOW, you guys are a total bunch of tools, he is who he is and he cannot do anything to help it. This entire site is geeks that have nothing better to do than vote on how ugly someone is. Am i the only one that thinks this is totally sad?
An entire new system... but it really depends on what games he's trying to run. Many of the late games won't run very well on that system, if at all i.e hl2.
You were right, only half of it had paste touching, so i added more paste to that area. The temps are still the same though..... I will leave the cooler runniog for a few hours to let the paste settle in..
I installed this cooler on my 6800GT and initially my idle temps were in the 70's i new this was not right so i pulled it apart and put it back together looking for things i'd done wrong. Then when i put it back together my idle temps are around 65c, what is wrong??? my old idle temps were 55 on...
my 6800 gt idles at 60 degrees, that sounds too hot to me? playing sorce for about 20-30 mins get it to 75. WTF? is this normal? the card has not been oc'ed.
