Reformat of partiton with Apps on it (office Av etc)

Update: Not the Raid1 drive, it was a USB drive attached to my pc. All that work for nothing. Damn WD Passport 120 had bad sectors on it. Ran a ckdsk /F /R to fix and mark bad sectores. This thing isn't 6 months old. \harddrive6\D is the USB drive. If I had read the DiskManagement...

I have a Intel Esata RAID controller in my pc (built-in to mobo, drives are mirrored), does Arconis make a booT CD that will see this controller? Read where they state if windows can see the drives, they can image it. I have enough space to do it both ways and probably will.

Ok, have some bad sectors on a partiton, my D partition. I install all my apps on this partition, ie; Msoffice Nod32, raxo perfect disk, etc. Can I just copy all these apps to an external drive, format my "D" partition and copy them back without issues? I realize I will proably need to...

Any Vista install to Gigabyte DQ6?

Ran the Vista advisor and it didn't recognize one of the drivers or chipsets on my Dq6 mobo, ok, it did find the USB2's. The Intel ICHR8 (or whatever) unknown, just about every chipset was "unknown". Wondering if anyone has installed Vista on a Dq6. How can someone upgrade to Vista or...

Gigabyet Dq6 forces XP install to F, not C

yep, it was the SD/CF card reader. But I didn't have any partitions to delete, just "Unknown Drive". Unplugged the SD/CF reader from my mobo, installed winxp without any issues.

Update: It was the damn SD/CF mitsumi card reader. nothing in the card reader, but yet it was showing up as drives and taking my C: and D: drives. unplugged it from usb2, installed windows XP on to C: no problems

SATA driver install, keeps asking for floppy

Use Gigabyte SATA or Southbridge -DQ6

Which SATA controller should I use from my OS, the Gigabyte SATA for the Intel? I would think the Gigabyte since there are only two sataII's for the drives and I plan to mirror them. If i were to select the Intel SATA' s and tell the OS to RAID them, won't that give me problems in the...

Thanks for the reply. Nope don't need the extra pci slot. Correct about the bios, but the latest version appears to have fixed alot of issues that some overclockers had.

How safe is this feature? Fragsheild will increase the MFT file size to keep down fragmentation of the MFT based on the number of files on the drives. Anything that is going to mess around with my MFT worries me. Looks like DK has had this feature since v9, but thought I would ask anyway...

Chkdsk always runs twice.

If you are using an chkdsk /r, you don't Need the /f. The "/f" is implied. By using /R it takes upto 10-100 times longer. /R invokes phase 4 and 5 of chkdsk. Phase 4 is a sector-by-sector confirm of the data. I don't know what phase 5 does. To "fix" you have to "lock" the file system. That...

Seems to me there are issues with the ASUS SLI board. Just look at all the threads about issues with it. I don't see an equal amount of threads with issues about the gigabyte. just my 2 cents

go check out www.ibuypower.com. they have lots of systems that meet your requirements. Also www.cyberpowerpc.com looks to be almost the same site. But ibuypower.com has more 939 mobo choices and more hard drive choices.
