Just bought a 1 gig TBird hoping to overclock to [edited](1.4), which heatsink should I get?

Plenty of 1.0s hit 1.5. Any higher end heatsink can do it, just gotta get the right chip. 1.4-1.5 was entirely possible from many of the AXIA and AVIA batch, but not all of em for sure. I had a 1.0 that was pretested i gotta add, it did 1.485 stable and 1.507 somewhat stable with a shafty...

Should i take my chances with a 1.33gig from newegg, or buy a Pretested 1gig@1.5-1.6?

with a good P/S any AYHJA 1.33 should hit 1.6+ otherwise 1.5 is an average point for the 1.33 of any batch. I think you'd have better luck with the 1.33.

Voodoo2s and Athlon systems, questions

Where can I get CPU stablity test software??

heheh damn look at me, coming here to find cpu stability tester and finding UT players im a hardcore UT player (I'm in DS, #3 CTF clan on OGL, I go by BlackIguana and Panopticon), and thats exactly what im trying to solve, random lock-ups in UT i found out that turning off AGP 4x helps...

you might be able to 9x133 (1197), but in the odd chance you cant you will have to unlock the cpu to lower the multiplier

Abit KT7A raid bus speed limit???

Power problems on KT7

little green lines

The Overclockerz store is SUCK!!!!

I dont have any issue with the quality of OCZ products, and I think that buying pretested chips is a great way to do things. the problem with the overclockerz store is that they hire idiots, and take forever to ship things. I ordered a tbird 700@900 slotA for 210.99. they charge my CC 4 days...

Is that possible to O/C Celeron 433 to 1000+?

that seems like a load of #%$@#^ to me... celeron 433s are based on the old .25 process that could barely hit 600, maybe 700 tops with watercooling/peltiers. the 533 and 566 celerons can sometimes hit 1g+, but you gotta have some extreme cooling, and top notch components before you even think...

AMD k7 Thunderbird 1Ghz Socket

yeah you really have to check that...i dont even know why they bothered putting those little foam things on...i had to rip em off for my HSF to be seated properly...i had read about ppl (Kyle from HOCP) destroying his 1ghz cpu like that, so i was extra careful

Which Thunderbird? 750 or 800?

Stick with the ABIT board all the way. Not only is the ASUS board more expensive, but generally the cpu will run hotter, and of course the ABIT board has more tweaking options. As far as the cpu choice goes, I dont believe there are lots of people paying for the 800s, when tonnes of 750s are...
