Hey all, I been a long time NVIDIA user but decided to try out an ATI crossfire system this time around. Only problem is, I am getting confused by all the numbers and XT's and XTX's and crossfire edition/crossfire ready.
If a card is "crossfire ready" according to newegg, does that mean I...
HTT was and is still set at 4.
I went with a Thermaltake PS because it got reasonably good reviews. I wouldve gone with a more powerful powersupply but I did not relaly have any intention of overclocking when I first built the comp about 1.5 years ago.
The powersupply is acutally my...
I bought a new computer for the office. Everything works fine except the clock on the computer keeps pushing itself back 3 hours after I set the clock correctly. For example, I would set the clock at 12:00pm, and in 10 minutes, it would read 9:10AM.
This happens when u reset the computer...
i dont mind spending 50 bucks on a cooling solution if it will increase the power of the card substantially without making the whole computer sound like a helicopter. I'm pretty deaf, but I still have memories of the old 52x CD Roms that sounded like a vacuum cleaner.
I'm the type of guy...
well. tbh, i wouldnt mind using this unfortunate turn of events to start pushing my overclocking skills. I stopped my previous overclocking of this card because the stock heatsink just wouldnt let the card run stable at any faster speeds. Guess i'll start researching GFX heatsinks. Any...
well, it is functioning at 120c. entire polygons are blacked out or look like TV static, but it is functioning. I also get a cute msg from the card saying "warning, your card is reducing its performance to keep your temperature under 120C." Not that this reduction in performance really helped...
i normally would not be alarmed by such things, except my counterstrike FPS got cut in half from 100 to 50. Probably because these cards are made to slow down performance if it heats up over 120C.
hey all. I gotta 6800gt for 1.5 years now. just did a fresh format of my comp a week ago and noticed the GPU core temp (not overclocked) was running at 81C with an ambient of 59C while just web browsing. Figured maybe the gfx card was dusty so i cleaned it out. After cleaning, the GPU core temp...
As anyone who has ever bought 5.1 or even 7.1 speakers should know, placing the rear speakers in an optimal position is a pain. Does anyone know of any rear speaker mounts that will allow you to place any speaker system's rear speaker in optimal spots?
I remember a few years ago, Creative...
can anyone confirm 6800s having problems with dvd playback? at this point i do believe it is a video card problem. i reinstalled my vidcard drivers and it helped. i also turn the image settings in display properties to 'high quality' instead of 'high performance' and the static is almost all...
update:
i installed the drivers through device manager. it didnt help.
i noticed that when i turned off my second monitor, the static diminished by about 50%.
i also noticed that there is only the horizontal static when the dvd is being played at full screen or nearly full screen...
hey i was wondering if anyone might know wut could be wrong. i just got a new dell 20.1 inch ultrasharp LCD and it works perfectly except when playing back widescreen dvds, there is horizontal flickering (resembling static) all over the screen. it only happens on dvd playback and never while...
These are my system specs:
AMD 3500+
MSI Neo2 Plat
6800GT eVGA
1gig ddr400 pc3200 ram
wd HD 74gig raptor
Thermaltake 480w ps
Thermaltake tsunami dream case.
Just wondering if anyone has any idea what a safe voltage would be for overclocking both the CPU and the AGP. I believe the...
haha no acutally your post is still helping. a lot of random mobo info i didnt know. i'm in th eoffice again but when i get home i'll be sure to start testing some of the other settings. i may want to fix the agp apetrue for world of warcraft because the maps in that game are HUGE. thanks all...
yea thats the right processor. those bastards raised the price about 15 bucks since i last saw it tho i think. but yea, go with that winchester core. its much better.
I think i fixed the problem somewhat. Turns out you cant install memory into dims 1 and 3 if there are 4 dimms on the mobo for these new computers. MSI has terrible diagrams in the manual to boot. in any case, i switched the ram to dimms 1 and 2 and the clock rate jumped to 200. i changed the...
Just wondering why the score is bad in general and why the GFX core speed clocks at 6/5 mhz?!

at first i was on default settings in bios. T2 mem speed
i changed the setting to T1 and realized my ddr was clockin 100mhz.
i tried setting max speed to 200 and the comp failed too boot. i then reset the cmos manually
then i noticed that the...
heres some more info. changed the apeture back to 128. still doesnt help. turning the memory timing to 1T acutally dropped my FPS by 10 on avg or more. this is what the bios reads in the "cell" tab:
Cell Menu
current cpu clock 2211 mhz
current ddr clock 100mhz
dram config...
ok so i tried some of the stuff in bios. i turned t1 on but i'm not sure if 8x agp is enabled. there is a tab in my bios that reads exactly...
agp aperture size [128]
agp 3.0 speed [auto]

agp fast write [auto]
system bios cacheable [disabled]
i changed...
unfortunately i do not know of a link for this. this was actually shown to me by a friend who works for the IT dept at axa financial. he bought the newer version of the 3500+ and oc'ed the card to 4000+ speeds with virtually no mods. he says the cpu is more or less the 4000+ card intentially...
i was wondering about the windows XP with no service packs thing. i put it in my system specs because i thought it might make a difference. i have a copy of win xp the original version that i got some a shady shop. its obviously a copy and it worked great in like 2000 when it first came out...
heh, i wanted an answer to this question too. i have the first soudblaster live! full version they ever made. my friend who builds comps for ppl says the integrated is just as good as that card these days in terms of sound quality. they wont have all the bells and whistles that come with the...
heres a really big change i would make. i recently bought a system almost exactly like yours and then found myself kicking myself because i got the wrong CPU. i highly suggest u not get the 3500+ cpu that u are looking to buy for 269. That cpu is the .13m chip. There is a new chip thats on the...
i certainly do hope it is because i have vsync enabled. wish i was home so i could check. you wouldnt happen to know if HL2 and CS:S turn on vsync as default would you? i have a funny feeling WoW was vsync enabled because i remember checking everything on. HL2 however has topped 60fps...went...
My World of Warcraft is being played at 1280x1000 (higest my LCD monitor can go). someone had suggested it was because i'm playing on an LCD at the refresh rate is too low? I didnt think that would effect the internal fps the game registers.
I just installed HL2 and CS:S so i havent had time...
is this normal? my specs are:
3500+ .13 micron
1gig pc 3200
eVGA 6800gt (cant find the gainward anymore =[)
WD 10000rpm raptor 74 gig
msi nforce3 neo platinum 2
windows xp original (no service packs)
for FPS in HL2 on default settings i get 50-60 fps constant. 85 fps max, 45 fps lowest...
