laser toner is a known carcinogen. I use a laser printer, but keep an eye out for any toner dispersion.
no way I would use one with visible toner deposits / a reputation for dumping toner everywhere.
I got my $40 rebate, this week, from the first time this came around.
card is great, but I still have the random audio pops over the hdmi connection problem, even with the new "official" vista driver when I hook it to the 52" samsung hdtv as the monitor over hdmi.
nice price but CC charges me tax (and haven't they gone belly up? not somebody I want to chase for a rebate) plus some bad review comments at newegg (noisy + poor drivers) scare me.
thanks for all the input, everyone.
I poked around and came across a refurbed 605 at ecost and bit.
had good luck with refurbs.... I hope it holds.
now all that remains is to find some back surround speakers (hopfuly some ws-15's to round out my athena's)
that 5.1 sony goes for $150. it has 1080i pass through but I would not bother with it (lcd hdtv and ps3 BD is 1080p) seems all the true hdmi 1.3 pass through capable 7.1 receivers are outrageous overkill starting at $400 and up?
the one feature I want in the receiver that I have not yet seen...
reading these dang home theater threads is mind numbing... especially the mega thread(s) at avs. I get the feeling that crowd is trying for sound nirvana. I just want to hear the bullets zing.
and after a couple days poking around, still no sense of what I really need.
plan is for a PS3...
why would somebody want one compared to a nice sturdy ram stick? well there is no reason. thus the "clearance" of that item. price is always the question.... if they don't go at $50, they'll eventually go for less.
anytime I happen to be at a wallyworld - I always cruise the clearance isle...
it comes with an ms "certified to run vista" sticker (removed as soon as it was demonstrated to not be doa)... the new intel integrated graphics chipset is significantly faster than the old one...
a review of the graphics chipset differences...
I have an e1405.... the latest generation on-board intel video chipset it has is great for playing dvd's and anything else I use it for. and the core duo always keeps it nice and cool (and quiet). who expects a nice compact laptop to play intensive 3D games at max resolution? that's silly.
buying a 100 units may give you some pull... but they won't sell one to me for less than 25% off of list (list = $999, so $~750 best price), rather than 25% off the current sale price (even though the coupon only lists only "not combinable with other coupons" and says nothing about list rather...
