I emailed their tech support and they gave me another cryptic answer...
He said the "SATA 0 Master, SATA 0 Secondary, etc" are just like PATA and I just needed to plug the SATA drive into adjacent slots.
WTF? These guys are morons... I DO have them plugged into adjacent slots but they...
It isn't letting me set up any kind of RAID on this new motherboard. I have an existing array of 160GB hard drives that I had running RAID 1 to preserve all my music and pictures...
The manual is very brief on RAID, and the BIOS itself is cryptic and confusing.
So how the hell do I set...
Well I got it figured out... but not before formatting my hard drive for no good reason...
What happened is that my memory (OCZ Platinum rev. 2) required exactly 2.0V to work properly, and my motherboard was supplying it 1.85V by default. I had to change the settings to 2.0V per module, and...
I was using the newest version of Memtest86+... and it came up with 17000 errors after testing the "good" module.
I can't believe that OCZ would send out 2 bad modules in the same package... wow...
Well I've tried to do a Windows reinstall but most of the time it doesn't even make it through the "load" phase of the Windows setup. It either gets hung up on "Kernel debug.dll" or it goes to a BSOD saying that the system has recovered from a serious error and must be restarted.
When I...
Hard drive - Ran DFT advanced test, showed NO problems
Memory - Ran MemTest86.... came up with THOUSANDS of errors.
The weird thing is I plugged in my old motherboard setup and it was doing the same thing... and I know the memory on that one was fine. WTF?
I tried to do a repair and it just rebooted halfway through it...
Apparently the USB ports work again this morning, but as soon as Windows loaded and I logged into my account, it said that I needed to re-register Windows... then it rebooted by itself again.
I just did a complete motherboard/CPU swap.... from an Athlon to a Core 2 Duo E6400, BFG 680i SLI motherboard, and 2 GB of memory.
I prepped the computer, pre-swap, by backing up all my stuff and uninstalling all the peripherals and drivers.... and uninstalling the drivers for the...
I'm using WinXP Pro.... when I was installing the audio drivers from the disk, it said it "has not passed the Windows Certification Test" or something like that.... I clicked "Continue installation"...
Are there updated drivers available? When I went on Asus' website all I could find were...
Help!!
I've already reinstalled the drivers twice.... nothing.
I've tried plugging into all the different outputs.... nothing.
I checked the jumpers for the front-panel audio, they are all there!!
I installed BIOS V.1006 last night... still not working!!
AHH DAMMIT!!!
After inspecting EACH AND EVERY cable on my power supply, and still not finding the CPU 4-pin power plug... I just read the manual. Even the MANUAL says there should be a 4-pin CPU power plug, and shows a picture of it.
However, this particular model has an 8-pin power...
1) Duh!! ;)
2) I plugged the 24-pin mobo power plug... is the 4-pin one the AUX12V? My power supply didn't have one AFAIK. What's the "EZ Plug"?
3) Yes it's hooked up.
4) I will try that
5) I will try that as well. :)
Thanks! I'll get back in a little while.
Here are my specs:
*Athlon64 3700+ San Diego
*Asus A8N-SLI Premium
*1GB (2x512) OCZ Platinum Rev2
*Enermax 535W PSU
Symptoms:
*NO VIDEO!!!
*NO "BEEPS"!! (This board is supposed to have that voice tell you what's wrong... but I don't hear a damn thing!!)
*CPU fan, chassis fans...
The only game I've gotten "sick" while playing was Doom 2... I couldn't play more than 10 minutes without getting nauseous.... especially if I was spinning around a lot.
Just like the thread title states... I can get a 7800GT for $383 or a 7800GTX for $507. I REALLY set my sights on the GTX model, but the price is pretty steep.
I'm starting to sway to the price of the GT, someone please talk me into buying the GTX instead!!
Viewsonic VP171S (rev. 2)
8-bit panel
8ms response time
#2 - Color Fade: Every color is excellent... except for the grey and turquoise (?) colors... there is a little bit of streaking on those
#3 - Color Bars: VERY faint dithering noticeable on certain colors... it's barely...
That All-freemagazines one SUCKS though.... I signed up for 3 different magazines (all computer magazines) and I got an email today saying I was ineligible for all 3 of them because I picked the "Other" box. :|
Scratch that... I already had an account there, so it wouldn't let me sign up for it directly... it would only let me sign up for "industry" magazines, like all the programming/IT magazines I get.
HOWEVER, this afternoon I got an email saying "Your FREE Computer Shopper subscription is now...
That freebizmag.com site sucks.... I clicked on the Computer Shopper mag link and instead it signed me up for some other totally different magazine. WTF?
Nope... if you compare to two side-by-side you'll see the difference... the BrightView/X-Brite/whatever screens have higher contrast, look sharper, and are much brighter than an old XGA screen.
Are they discontinuing the VP171S through Viewsonic, or just through CompUSA? I just looked at their website and it says "Sold Out, Not available in Store"... which means it's a discontinued product and they won't recieve any more shipments.
Is Viewsonic coming out with a replacement for...
By the way... the HL2 Collector's Edition is discontinued... so you better buy them up because the stores won't get any more shipments after the shelves are empty.
