    P8P67 Pro B3 - USB Issue

Just wanted to post that I was having similar issues to the original post (though it's a P8P67 w/ 1401 BIOS, no modifiers). I'm using Corsair XMS3 (2x4gb, 1333) and I had to change the RAM timings from "Auto" to "DDR3-1333" to make it stable again. I also disabled the C3 and C6 reporting, but...

    Intel's 1155 DP67BG..review

Any word on when these will be available? Returned my original DP67BA from January since I was within the refund window, and recently purchased an Asus P8P67 in March. I've had far too many headaches with the Asus (and bought it against my better judgment of Asus products). Amazon's saying...

    New ASUS 1502 bios

I've got the P8P67 (standard I guess?) and have been getting tons and tons of BSODs, and I've run Memtest with success... maybe it needs a few more passes to really see what's happening. Stock clocks, Corsair H50 cooler. At this point I'm willing to try anything! Thanks!

Are Intel Branded Boards any good?

I've had an Intel P35 board (DP35DP) since July 2008, and have been very happy with it. My first 775 board was a Gigabyte P35, and the board shipped with too early of a BIOS revision to support my E8400. I returned that board and purchased the DP35DP, and have been happy since. I haven't done...

COD: Black Ops Terrible PC Performance

There were rumors floating around of a type of "trade-in" program for Steam that allowed you to resell your licenses. Chances are it would be for Steam store credit if it ever took off, but that would certainly be something I'm interested in. Then again, with all the ridiculous sales on Steam...

COD: Black Ops Terrible PC Performance

None of the graphical settings seem to make a difference, both single and multiplayer are extremely choppy. I've been able to play just about every game on high settings with my setup (though I haven't played Metro 2033)... don't see why this one should be any different. C2D E8400 Radeon 4890...

PC boots up, stays at BIOS/MB splash screen

Reseated the RAM, don't have any paste to reseat the CPU... and there's no jumper on this board, just a button (not even sure what it does, the manual's pretty cryptic), but I've taken out the battery and turned off the switch on my PSU and let it sit for 20 minutes. Assuming it's been cleared...

PC boots up, stays at BIOS/MB splash screen

Old build, just brought it back to school with me from my mom's house. Re: MBR, I can't even see the BIOS information let alone the OS. Last I know I had Ubuntu on the hard drive, anyway. Thanks for the suggestions!

PC boots up, stays at BIOS/MB splash screen

I've run into an issue on my PC where the PC booting will not get past the splash screen of the BIOS (in this case, MSI). I've tried two different power supplies (Antec SP500 and Antec EW380) and two different video cards (GeForce 7600 GT and Radeon X1800 XT). Don't have an internal speaker to...

    psu for a 9800 series

Thanks for the response! Only reason I asked is because I ran into similar issues where the GPU was running at partial speed due to lack of adequate PSU (using some generic 420 watt and an AGP 6800 Ultra). I've fixed the GPU bottleneck by upgrading to an E8400 :)

    psu for a 9800 series

I'd hate to revive a thread from the dead, but I'm in the same issue. My dad just got a 9800 GTX (I have no idea why), and I convinced him to swap for my 8800 GT since he doesn't play games. My rig is as follows: Asus A8N-E AMD Opteron 165 3gb DDR400 RAM 9800 GTX 1 SATA DVD-RW 1 SATA...

    Mass Effect

Bought and finished this game this weekend, and I couldn't put it down. Like many of you, I loved KotOR (and II, for that matter), but I skipped over Jade Empire (aside from owning it on Xbox... maybe I'll go back!). Either way, I was just as pleased to play the PC version as I was for the PC...

    Any experience with Phillips brand?

This isn't much to say about the quality of Philips products themselves, but a little story: We bought a 30" direct-view CRT refurbished in November 2006 for a steal of a price (incredible PQ, too!), and couldn't have been happier. That is, for the year and 3 months it lasted. Needless to...

    Frickin' BD+

This, except sub me as a BD-P1000 owner. Anytime a new Fox disc, or batch of Fox discs releases, I get to wait patiently for a firmware fix from Samsung to get the discs to play. When Fox got back in the game in October 2007, it was a solid month and a half before the first new batch (From...

Upgrading my mobo, CPU, and memory.

I've just told them, "yes, it's only installed on one computer" when they ask. I've never been asked whether it's a different computer, and if they do, just tell them you formatted your hard drive (which you did). They'll give you the next string of the activation sequence.

    Nlite Question

nLite has to be one of my favorite apps ever. It's saved me so much time from Windows update, and I don't have to memorize my product key anymore! Also, it's helped turn my 2000 SP2 disc into SP4 with mass updates!

    Computer for family.

Have you considered just giving them that one and upgrading for yourself? Depending on what interface your 7800 is, you could probably get something similar in AM2 or 775 for what you'd pay in the new stuff for the family. Especially with DDR2 prices being so low, some cheaper dual core CPUs...

    Epox 9NPA+ Ultra w/ Opteron 165

My friend sold me his Epox 9NPA+ Ultra board since he got a DFI LanParty Ultra D (I have no idea why he would swap motherboards, but whatever). I ordered a 939 Opteron 165 (Denmark) from the Egg, threw it in, and nothing. I looked at the "supported CPU list" from Epox's website, and neither...

Should I really get an up-converting DVD player?

Toshiba HD-A2 = $300 Toshiba HD-A20 (1080p) = $400 Sony BDP-S300 = $500 It's beyond me why the BDP-S1 ("last year's model") hasn't dropped below the BDP-S300's pricing, but that's how it goes. You could definitely get a PS3 and kill two birds with one stone, which itself is the most...

    Ready to buy Vista

The "system builder" version (OEM) is just fine for a user like you or me (or anyone who reads computer hardware message boards), because we know how to install the OS ourselves, and support our own systems if something happens. The reason OEM is so cheap is because it's bound to one computer -...

Win98se and modern hardware - can it be made to work?

Aside from all the hacks to make over 512mb RAM operate, I'm pretty sure 98 support was cut from nForce 4 chipsets on (and Intel equivalent)... might not be too pleasant regardless. I'm sure you'll get a billion of these comments, but - why exactly are you still using 98, especially with that...

Would you install vista with these specs?

To go with what everyone else is saying, you've got a great PC with another gig of RAM. I've got an X2 4200 with 2gb RAM and an X1950 XT (used to have a 7900 GT, ran fine as well). Went back to XP because Vista was having trouble with ET: Quake Wars beta, but overall Vista is pretty good for...

Help me better understand the OSI Model

I've passed the CCNA Intro test (took it in high school, we didn't have time to do the ICND part, but still did the Intro because it's worth college credit), and I didn't have much trouble on the OSI model. My instructor explained it as a troubleshooting technique. If you look at how the data...

    iTunes TV shows

I posted a similar thread in the Windows board, but I figured you guys would be more knowledgable than them on the subject. 8600GT, 8600 ultra and others revealed!

I just hope this isn't another small step up, like going from a 6800 Ultra (AGP) to 7600 GT (PCIe). I bought the 7600 mainly to get into the modern times with PCIe, but it honestly wasn't too big, if any of an upgrade. I sold that card and bought a 7900 GT, which I've been using since June...

What new PCI-E card should i get?

Spend the extra dough and get the 7600 GT. I believe there's one for $90 after a $20 rebate on ZZF (you pay $110). 3500 + 7600 GT would make a great combo, and squeeze out some really good performance out of the great games of 2004 (HL2, FarCry, WoW, UT2004, EQII.... *puts up flame shield*)

Cheap video card for new system

I'll second the 7600 GT. I'm making a PC for my mom with specs similar to that (except 1GB RAM), with a 7600 GT. Any way you look at it, the 7600 GT is easily the best midrange card there is. It's a great card at a great price, nothing ATI can do yet (for the $100 range, anyway)!

    Need to find serial number

For eVGA's step-up program, you get as much as you paid for it, less shipping and rebates (if your UPC is missing). For example, if you paid $120 for the card and there was a $20 rebate, you'd get $120 with the UPC on the box, and $100 without it, whether or not you got your rebate. I've never...

Upgrading from Windows 2000 to Vista Question

To avoid a "messy" system, just make sure to keep all of your OSes on the same hard drive, and always follow the rule of installing OSes oldest to newest (2000 -> Vista). That way, your boot config files will not get screwed up, and your Vista install will detect 2000 and make the boot file...

    What video card to get:

If it's any consolation, I bought a 7900 GT in June 2006, and really am kicking myself for not waiting to save enough for an X1900. You're in a really good position here, with barely any price difference between the 7900 GT and X1900 XT (and no, this isn't some kind of ATI vs. nVidia battle --...

    What video card to get:

If you can spend the extra money, and wait for the rebate... I'd strongly recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102067 Great price, great card.

Supreme Commander demo came out today... might be nice to try out on a nice rig like that, although it's meant for 2 monitors. I'll second all of the Oblivion, Company of Heroes and FEAR recommendations, too.
