Anyone got any news of a more recent firmware for JMicron JMS583 chips? I'm using v02.01.02 with a Mac M1, occasionally the thing will just go brain-dead (slow, freeze on access, or just fail to mount) until I unplug it for a few seconds and then plug it back in.
I just got a Sabrent EC-SNVE enclosure, came with an older firmware, so I updated to 1.25.7. I see people mentioning newer firmwares in this thread, such as 1.27.24. Are those any good to use?

Does anyone know if with the 4400+ X2 cpu it is possible on a S939 Nforce4 mobo to run 4x512 or 2x1gb @1T timing? I am planning to overclock slightly, nothing extreme, maybe 225-250fsb.

i think a hacked up BIOS combining the 3.3 msi code with the Nvraid 4.81 BIOS would work well, but Neither CBROM nor AwardMod seems to work on these BIOSes. Is there a newer tool for modifying AWARD bios'es?
I remember in the Anandtech reveiew the A8N-SLI did poorly on the overclocking tests. Do you know if the board has been through any revisions that allow halfway decent overclocks? (around 270 HTT is what I am looking for)
well this sucks, I am starting to really regret buying this MSI
I needed a nForce4 SLI mobo with 3 PCI slots and MSI was one of the only major players making one. Anyone know of another that is also a decent overclocker? I am getting sick of MSI ignoring its customers....
I dont think you need the new bios for it to boot but it wont show the correct CPU name during POST etc. I could be wrong maybe you do need at least 3.30
that sucks to hear that v3.46 doesnt fix it.

I did try cleaning the disk, in fact it was a mint-condition disc straight from my MS Action Pack subscription. I think this problem has more to do with some sort of registry problem than a problem with the media itself, since I was able to verify (CRC-32) all of those files and...
OK I installed XP OEM version on top (in-place upgrade) of my normal retail version by accident (that's a whole other story). Of course I couldn't activate, so I did a re-install of my original XP over the OEM version.
During the re-install, I got errors from Setup saying it needed XYZ file...
