If it's like 99% of wireless cards I've used you will have to go to the manufacturers site and download their utility to make it work. Like for the linksys card I have now windows recognizes it of course but it will not connect unless I have the linksys connection software installed that...
Thanks I checked Device Manager and it was sharing an IRQ with the souncard so I disabled the soundcard since I won't use it anyway and it seems to have fixed the problem. I forgot that Device Manager provided all of that info.
Hi I've got an issue with one of the computers I am setting up at our remote office. We have some software that requires us to use 3 serial ports so I added this Syba card to an IBM Thinkcentre E50 running Win XP Pro. Anytime I plug anything into the Syba serial card the computer freezes and...
I would check the wiring on the powerswitch. I know it's low level, but something could be stuck or come loose. I had an IBM do this to me and the button was stuck in the depressed position internally so the external part of the button did nothing.
I don't get everyone worrying about these overpriced things being in stock. My local Wal-Mart has had at least 10 of the "premium" ones and 5 of the "core" ones on the shelf since they came out. They have had no problem keeping them in stock.
Ok I would love to find one person that is actually offended by a Christmas tree and if they are so what, they don't have to look at the darn thing. We are a democracy, the last time I checked and the majority rule. The majority celebrate Christmas period. I'm sick of this BS put up the darn...
I've heard good things about the D-Link cameras. It can't be illegal. It's her house and she can put cameras up if she wants to. If it was illegal all security cameras at businesses would have to be illegal too. I think it's a great idea and the D-Link should do what you want.
I have the exact answer to your question. TRY IT!! You will get your answer way faster. If all else fails call up Microsoft and they can tell you how you are allowed to use their software.

Sick of Microsoft hand-holding questions.
Thanks works great in Spybot. Haven't been able to get adaware to work yet. It just opens and doesn't start scanning so I'll have to play around with it some more.
Is there an easy way to make them run automatically on some sort of a schedule? I'm tired of updating all of our office computers one at a time and then waiting for all 15 to finish. If anyone knows a solution that would be great because it takes too much time to do this on each machine every...
$2.29 for regular here in Oregon. So that works out to about $57.48 a week when I fill my truck. Gotta love getting 7 miles a gallon, 8 if I'm lucky lol.
I gotta say we all complain about the gas prices too much. We should start complaining about grocery store prices. $3.85 for a gallon...
I wondered about that because it seemed like an odd IP address. My only concern is our server must keep the address it has now because our remote stores access and transmit their reports to it using that address. The workstations wouldn't be affected by an IP change though. I would do a...
I waste under 10 minutes a day. I'm so busy I don't have time for sitting around. Doesn't the day go so slow if you don't keep busy and have all that time to waste? I would go home if I was able to waste two hours a day I would just leave at 3:00 LOL.
LOL. The company that did it is just a local computer company that we no longer deal with for obvious reasons. They also built us some desktop workstations that are terrible that I spend time fixing and replacing parts in constantly. The funniest thing they did was try to tell me that a good...
Thanks for all of the help guys. I got to digging around upstairs where all of the wiring is and found out the "Professionals" that installed it had no clue what they were doing. They ran it looped around electrical wires and didn't staple anywhere so everything is loose. There are kinks...
I would highly recommend anti-virus software it is way too risky to run without it these days. You can check your temps and other settings in the BIOS or some mobos come with software utilities to monitor temps and voltages. I experienced a similar problem on a clients pc and it turned out to...
All are Windows XP home. Checked the Ip's and couldn't find any conflicts. I don't know if it is normal or not but all of the Ip's start with 209.118.xx.xxx, I always thought that they started with something similar to 192.168. etc. Is there an easy way to check the actual router/switches or...
I ran AdAware, Spybot, and all of the PC's virus scanners (Trend Micro) all with current definitions. No problems found. I'm beginning to think it is the Linksys router but I just don't know if it is able to handle 8 connections at the same time without slowing everyone's internet access down...
On my main rig I have the MS Intellimouse/keyboard combo and I am on the first set of batteries still, and I bought it back in October. So that is 9 months of heavy use 6+ hours a day. I can still use the mouse from over eight feet away. It's the best $90 I ever spent to get a quality...
I've been fighting with the network at our office for a while now because it is slow beyond belief. It consists of 8 Windows Machines, 3 large format printers on an HP JetDirect Print Server, and an IBM RS/6000 server that is about 7 years old. It is connected like this.
Wireless...
Wow great example of bashing stuff you have probably never used. I have been on a Netgear wireless router for the past 3 years. Never had to reset it and it has great signal strength and I have never had a dropout in all this time. I bought a Linksys router back in May and it's sitting in the...
