Insufficient PSU hurt a system?

Ram making an odd noise

i think that the circuitry problem may be it. Im going to swap out the mobo and see if that fixes the problem. Also, i do in fact have the sound blaster audigy 2 zs like everybody else, but i took out everything except my ram and cpu (including my sound, wifi, and gfx card) and the sound remained.

ok now i have tried every possible configuration of the 2 sets of ram and none of them fail memtest. It still makes the audible noise. For example, when i am browsing firefox, if i am looking at one bookmark folder, then move the mouse to the right so that it opens the other, it makes a noise...

running them 4 5 4 11 2T @ 2.2v no memtest errors, and it still occured when i upped the timings to 5 5 5 12 2T. the sound is electrical sounding, which it would need to be with ram. also i am only running 2x1gb sticks right now to troubleshoot. Its odd that it would all of a sudden not accept...

the odd thing is that the problem does not occur on my 2x 74 raptors on raid 0, only my 320 wd in their JBOD arrays, should i have not put them in arrays and just had them installed as individual sata non raid disks, as they are not in a raid. i used to have them in a 640 JBOD until this...

i have checked for newer drivers to no avail but ill double check now, what other drivers could i use? also, the errors say disc, nvraidservice, and nvraid, i know that jmicron is handling the raid as well but those errors are saying nvidia arent they?

well i have run memtest86 with the same problem and im pretty sure ive run prime95, didnt try mult instances and i do have DC. every time i have the error, my system log is filled up with multiple disc, NVRAIDSERVICE, and nvraid errors. also, i get a delayed write failed error on the desktop...

"NTLDR is missing" Trying to setup system for the 1st time.

looks like ur trying to boot to a corrupted xp copy, its possible that the cd itself has ntldr corrupted, but thats pretty unlikely, check to ensure that you are booting to the correct drive

So we are still running solaris 9 at work and i have been really pushing to upgrade to 10, we even have the discs, just need to isntall it. the thing is its a very old server and i have heard things about certian pieces of hardware(maybe software?) that would not be compatable with solaris 10...

Odd problem

can you get it into the bios before it finishes the mem test? how long have you left it at this point? i know systems that have hung here and then 20min later bam it goes through no prob. i would definatly try a mobo swap if you already determined that the ram is unlikely.

brand new build, passes memtest and prime95, replaced mobo, drives, cables, psu, did a complete reformat. after the complete reformat i tested for the error and it did not occur(TESTED BEFORE INSTALLING CHIPSET DRIVERS) installed chipset drivers tested again and the error occurs.

im looking at the makedisc feature on the asus disc and it allows me to make 32bit nviida sata 64bit nvidia sata jmicron sata im running 32 so its either 1 or 3, but would it be best to use the jmicron drivers or use the nvidia ones?
